Zane's POV

I flinched back a bit, oh no. what's he gonna do? He moved closer to me, inching closer and closer to my face, I looked at him scared. I couldn't move! I felt frozen, I shut my eyes tight. I didn't move until I felt a pair of hands gently grab my face, I slowly opened my eyes. the man gave me a gentle smile before moving one of his hands to his face signaling to me that he needed air, I pointed up to the surface and finally spoke up
" You need air, go up."
But all he did was shake his head and held o top both of my hands and looks up
" you want me to go with you? "
He nodded, seeming relaxed and excited about the idea. But all I did was shake my head.
" No, I can't...it's too dangerous for me, now hurry up and go before you drown."
The man then looked at me feeling with a pleading look, I only looked back him and slowly shook my head,
" I'm sorry, I really am. I want to go up too, if anything I'm more curious about it than you are. Now go, you running out of time..."
He gently grabbed my face, looking at me one last time before letting his breathe go. I saw in horror as the air bubbles left his mouth and he eyes slowly started to closed, look I don't know why I did it but I DID I just panicked and I didn't think about pushing him to the surface!! We don't judge Zane's decisions we don't judge Zane! In a panic I grabbed his face and pressed my lips on top his blowing air into his mouth. His eyes shot open, I guess he was expecting me to go to the surface with him but he caught on quickly that he was wrong, I let go and moved back and looked at him
" I'm sorry! I-I don't know why I did that! I panicked!!"
He only looked at me with shocked eyes, I felt my hands shake. He reached over and grabbed my hands again but I quickly moved them away hold them close to my chest
" I..I need to go! And I'm guessing that you do too!" I moved my hands out at him, the water between us raised him up, he struggled and tried to swim back down to me but my magic was more powerful that his strength especially since I was in the water. He looked at my reaching his arms out to me one last time before the water shot him out and onto his boat, I looked at his ship anchor and used my magic to pull it out of the grown and onto where it's supposed to go. Using my magic one last time to give the ship a big heave in the direction it was going in before, AWAY from the reef.Alright no more hiding! I started to swim as fast as I could home hoping that the man would be back...

Travis's POV
I was shot out of the water high into the air
" AAAAAAAAAH!!"
I waved my arms and saw as my friends started to move around to hopefully catch me, I landed with a big thud.
" Oh my gosh Travis are you ok!?!"
" Yeah, I think so."
" Get. O F F !"
I looked down to see who broke my fall, And jumped off quickly.
" Oh my gosh I'm so sorry Lucinda!!"
I helped her up as she cracked her back
" Just don't do it again or else I'll be using you as a human shield when the time comes."
" Yeah So-RRY!"
I spoke louder as all of a sudden the ship was pushed in a direction, I looked back to see the anchor was on the ship
" No! Wait!"
" Travis what is going on!?"
" I saw someone down there! A..a person!!"
I lied, I couldn't just tell them I saw a mermaid! They would never believe me.
" Well then get that anchor back out there and let get our gear on and go look!"
" No we need to lower the anchor and jump in now! Their a fast swimmer and they'll be gone by the time we get all of our gear on."
Everyone nodded and once we lowered our anchor we all jumped in, I looked and looked but the mysterious merman was gone.. we returned to the surface
" Sorry Travis but we couldn't find anything, maybe you were just seeing things."
" No no I know what I saw!"
" Travis lets just get you back to the boat."
" But.But!"
" No buts! Now come on, before you catch a cold"
I sighed and looked at the water one more time before giving in getting on the boat with everyone else...
