i was back at salt lake city with halsey, and i was working all day as a medical physician, while halsey worked in her music and was doing live shows here-and-there.

now, if you've been in this journey with me from the past 7 years, you're wondering "y/n, weren't you a rebel and said you weren't interested in being a physician?"

well the thing is, i chose this career because my grandfather ended up passing away just months after i graduated high school from cancer.

i couldn't save him, no one could, and that's where i knew that i wanted to be like him, like my mother, and grandmother; i wanted to save lives.

"hey y/n." halsey greeted me. "how did work go?"

"alright, but there are many weird things that happen in the e.r."

"like in the show?" halsey smiled.

"probably, that's something doctors never talk about." i said sitting down in the nearest sofa.

"you should rest.." halsey said. "you've been in the e.r. for more than 13 hours everyday, you need a break."

"i'm fine halsey," i said, trying not to fall asleep. "coffee has been helping me stay up in all my shifts."

"well, it's not going to work on this one.." halsey picked me up bridal style, who knew she was really strong, and took me to my room. "goodnight y/n."

"night hal's."

we have officially released our third album, vessel, and tyler and i wanted to celebrate.

but first things first, i told tyler i was gonna go thank my family for being a huge part in the making of vessel.

i was making my way to my parents' house with a huge smile and parked in their driveway. i knocked the door and there was jordan.

"hey josh! i heard vessel was released today." he let me in.

"yeah, speaking of that, where are the others?" i laid down in my favorite couch.

"they'll be here soon."

"jordan, dear, who was at the door?" i heard my mother yell.

"its josh." jordan yelled back.

"wait josh is home?!" i heard abbie yell.

eveyone went downstairs and hugged me and congratulated me.

"first off, i wanna thank you guys, thank you for everything you've all done for me. i wouldn't of  made it without you guys."

"we love you so much josh, we support every decision you make, we're always here for you." my father said which made me smile.

"thanks dad." i hugged him.

"he's right, but never forget what/who made you become this strong person and your roots.." my mom kissed my forehead.

"i'll always remember that," i said, my sister and brother hugged me, but i couldn't find ashley anywhere. "where's ashley?"

"she hasn't been out of her room for the past week." jordan said.

"everytime we try to talk to her she never opens up or she always says 'i want josh, not you guys'." abbie said.

i walked upstairs and knocked on her bedroom door.

"who is it?" i heard her say.

"it's josh, may i come in?" she opened the door and there she was crying. "what's wrong?"

"high school, i hate it, everyone in it sucks." i tried confort her.

"why do they suck ash?"

"they're always telling me horrible stuff, they're always doing something to me, nobody likes me." she cried more. "and the one person i thought was different ended up betraying me, was this how high school was for you?"

"it was ashley," i sigh. "but then there were these people who had been going through the same stuff, and they helped me and became my best friends."

"tyler and the others?" she smiled.

"yes, and i also met this beautiful girl who had been going through worse, she always found a way to make you smile, and that's where the nightmare that high school was, was over." her smile grew wider. "the thing is, one day you'll find the people that are gonna be there for you and they'll help you. i mean it."

"thank you josh." ashley hugged me. "whenever you're not here i always write poems and/or stories to help myself cheer up, but i appreciate your advice more than the poems, you're an amazing brother."

"likewise ash." i walked out of her room and saw mom smiling.

"thanks for cheering her up josh."

"no problem." i smiled.

"now about that girl, y/n, have you heard anything about her?" my mother asked, she loved y/n so much, like a daughter.

"yeah, but it was about a month ago, she's a medical physician."

"wow, she actually chose the career," my mother was shocked too as almost all of us. "you should also thank her."

"for?"

"she was a big part of your life josh, she inspired part of vessel, plus you should get close to her again. that girl is really special, you love her and she loves you back, no doubt."

"right, but she lives in salt lake city mom."

"didn't you say once on our family dinner that you would fly across the ocean for her." i remained quiet. "go and make her my daughter-in-law."

i left my parents' house and got some stuff and bought my plane ticket.

"i hope this is worth it."
