A Decision

I knew as far as Ahament went I wasn't gonna sit back and watch her get killed again, I couldn't, not after all this time of us being together. If she went down, I was going down with her. But with my family in the way, it wasn't like I had nothing left to live for. So the real question was; what was I gonna do? First things first, I needed to find Ahmanet and unfortunately I knew exactly who to trick into taking me to her.

Apparently that dream I had awhile back about the sarcophagus and the plane was accurate; Nick and his crew had in fact found Ahmanet's resting place and taken the coffin with them. An expert in the mythology behind my beloved, Nick's girlfriend knew exactly where Ahmanet was and her plans for killing another for Set. What she didn't know was that Nick wasn't the one destined to be by her side. But I kept my mouth shut and followed the two of them until we reached the church Ahmanet was supposedly at. A small part of me broke when I tricked them into going the wrong way and I entered the main room.

"Ahmanet?!" Something in me is slowly coming undone, the part that belonged to my mummy girl. I've become a sobbing mess and I cut my leg on a piece of broken construction while running here. I collapse on the ground from the pain and curl up in a ball, letting it all out.

"Lana?" Because of my tired legs, I barely turn over and spot her crouching in a corner. Realizing it's me, she stands and runs over, taking my face in both hands so that I'm looking her in the eye.

"Why'd you run away?" There's tear streaks running down her face, she's been crying too. "I-I didn't mean to, I just...got so scared that you'd get hurt. That...I'd hurt you. Oh Lana..." She presses her forehead against mine and closes her eyes, starting to cry anew. "I'm so sorry, I'm so very sorry." I raise a shaky hand and rest it on her cheek.

"Ahmanet...listen to me. You have get out of here, my brother will kill you. He'll make sure you're gone for good." She stubbornly shakes her head. "No! I can't leave you, I just...please...please don't make me." She raises my head a little and brushes my hair away from my face. "I love you."

The words hit home and I feel like all the wind has been knocked out of me. She manages a weak smile before slowly kissing my lips, it's a light almost fearful kiss, like her lips would be the death of me if they stayed too long. When she pulls back I feel stronger then I have in all day and I slowly stand and practically fall into her embrace. It occurs to me that we're the same height.

The door opens suddenly and Nick's the first to enter, stopping his girl just in time. They both stare at us for a long moment, I stare back over Ahmanet's shoulder. She slowly lets me go and we both turn to face them.

"She needs me." I whisper to Nick, he barely nods. "Are you sure?" "Yes, please...let me do this." His girl takes one step forward, almost instantly Ahmanet has her arm around my shoulders and hisses sharply while taking a half step back. Slowly the shock from Nick's face fades to something rather similar to calm, I'd say it's acceptance but I'm not sure.

"Be careful sis." Tears come to my eyes as I break from her and run into his arms. The hug feels like it could last forever but when I let go and go back to my undead love it feels like everything's in slow motion. Her voice translates to a different language so no one else can understand.

"All you have to do is say you return my love and kiss me. Then we'll both be apart from this world, alive but not quite, dead but not really. Are you sure you want this?" I glance at Nick for what I know is the last time before looking back into her double irises and smiling with all the love in my heart.

"I do, I love you more then The Wizard of Oz." Her smile's a teary one and we both lean into what feels like the perfect kiss. As soon as we do, the world around us feels like it's melting away...
