Chaelin's car accident had been over a month ago, but the doctors were slowly giving up hope. The swelling in her brain had barely gone down, her lungs were failing slowly and her injuries were barely healing. In fact, they knew she wouldn't make it. They boys and her family knew too. Even ARMY's were suspecting that there was something wrong. BigHit didn't give any updates, BTS didn't post and all everyone could see were pictures sites like Dispatch released of the boys leaving the hospital in tears again and again.
It was very early in the morning and the boys had just finished getting ready in order to go back to the hospital, whose visiting hours would start soon when Jin's phone rang and his mum told him in tears, that Chaelin had not survived the night.

All of us are incredibly devastated by the news of her passing and are asking the media and fans alike for the time that especially her family and band members need to heal. Her funeral will be held in private as wished for by her family. We thank everyone for their incredible support over the past month and are grateful for every single flower, stream and tweet in Chaelin's name.

Kim Chaelin (†18), the only female member of BTS has passed away following her car accident in June. Her agency BigHit Entertianment shared the news with the words: "we confirm that our dear friend and artist Kim Chaelin has passed away on July 20th at Seoul National University Hospital at 5:34 in the morning, following her car accident in June.". The young singer was only 18 years old.
Chaelin was returning from filming a comeback stage with her manager, when her car was hit sideways by an oncoming truck. It it currently known, that the driver was drunk and did not have a license and is being sued by her family. Her manager was only mildly injured, whereas Chaelin, had to be resuscitated at the scene before she underwent an eleven hour surgery at Seoul National University Hospital. Her agency then shared, that due to complications, Chaelin was put into a coma she apparently never woke up from.
Fans, who have laid down flowers in front of the hospital after the accident and even now after her passing, share their grief online, making the hashtags "#YouDidWellChaelin" and "#GoodbyeChaelin" trend worldwide.
Her agency also shared, that they are very thankful for all the support over the past month, but now ask for privacy for both her family and bandmates and that her funeral will be held in private, where South Korea will say "Goodbye" to inarguably one of the biggest stars of this generation.

Despite BigHit asking for privacy, the media still found out the place and date of her funeral and it was swarmed by photographers and reporters, much to everybody's anger. What made Jin smile though, was Chaelin's favourite song, which they played during her funeral: "Lean On Me" by Michael Bolton.
"If there is a load You have to bear That you can't carry I'm right up the road I'll share your load If you'll just call me""
Jin knew it would take to heal from this. They all knew. As they moved her casket out, Jin could only remember a conversation he shared with Chaelin after their debut and smiled fondly despite his tears.
"It's okay, Jin. We're in this together no matter what. You never walk alone, Jin. No matter what happens."
Even though Chaelin might have been physically gone, Jin believed that she was still with him and that one day, everything would be alright. She was right, they'd never walk this road alone. She was still there. And one day, everything would be fine, even if that day was not today and will not be tomorrow. One day, it would be.
