♡ DATING RUMOURS [debut - now] ♡

Chaelin had a few relationship rumours throughout the years. Her ships weren't necessarily her dating rumours, although some of them were. Here are all of her rumoured boyfriends since her debut in chronological order.

1. EXO's Baekhyun x Chaelin [June 2013]
The rumour started because EXO had a comeback around the same time BTS debuted with "2 Cool 4 Skool". The two were seen smiling at each other on stage after Music Bank and some interpreted a little too much. The two were never shipped together afterwards though and the rumours died out within a few weeks. Interaction was minor after that and only due to Taehyung who is friends with Baekhyun. The rumour was pretty much forgotten after July 2013.

2. Super Junior's Choi Siwon x Chaelin [October 2013 to November 2013]
This was more of a scandal than anything else. On a variety show in October 2013, Chaelin was asked about her ideal type and answered with "someone like Choi Siwon" and according to Netizens her band members smiled "knowingly at her". Things quickly blew out of proportion and Siwon was accused of dating a minor. SM and BigHit quickly made statements that the dating allegations were not true and Chaelin had to publicly apologise for her words. The rumours turned into a father-daughter ship after the two actually met on a set of a drama but a romantic ship never came up.

3. Block B's ZICO x Chaelin [September 2014 to January 2015]
The rumour started after Chaelin was seen leaving the KQ Entertainment building in tears on the night of the 3rd September and Zico was seen running after her, before leading her back inside. The rumour then also continued to spread when it was revealed that Block B and BTS woukd collaborate for a MAMA stage 2014 and the two were seen laughing quite a lot. None of the company's ever made a statement about it, making a lot of people guess if they actually were dating. Chaelin later revealed though, that the night of the 3rd September was also the night a dear friend of her passed away; EunB from Ladies' Code (and later RiSe as well). Zico merely comforted her and the two continued to be friends. She avoided the dating question though. It never became an actual ship after the collaboration though and the two were not seen together, causing the rumour to die out.

4. Jonghyun x Chaelin [August 2015 until after his death]
Chaelin's greatest dating rumour to date. Jonghyun and Chaelin were great friends but a dating rumour surfaced after Jonghyun gave her the song "Breathe" for her solo debut with "polaroid.".  A lot suspected that the two were dating and the fact, that SM or BigHit never denied or confirmed any dating rumours seemed to support that suspicion. Even though the two always explicitly said they were "only friends" Netiziens and fans alike didn't believe them.  After Chaelin stated, that she was "in love" in mid-2017, a lot more started to believe that it was Jonghyun whom she was with, despite the two continuing to deny the rumour. It was mostly due to their interactions off-stage and the secret meet ups Dispatch exposed. When Chaelin was then seen hugging Jonghyun's parents at his funeral, a lot seemed confirmed in their suspicions and made Chaelin seem like "the girlfriend left behind" and that "Before our Spring" was dedicated to her, much to Chaelin's anger. When she finally admitted to dating Namjoon in February of 2018 and having had dated him since mid-2016, the rumours stopped and the ship was left as a brother-sister ship, though some believed that Jonghyun was with her before she dated Namjoon.

5. EXO's Suho x Chaelin [January 2016]
This started because Chaelin said she thought Suho was attractive and he in return said that he thought she was a pretty and talented girl. Things blew out of proportion quickly. People left and right were accusing Suho of being a pedophile, despite the Jonghyun dating rumour and the fact that Jonghyun was older than Suho. SM and BigHit denied the rumours and they died out, until a fake picture was spread and the rumour had to be denied again and the picture was explained by the photographer. The rumour is still an unpopular ship today.

6. Namjoon x Chaelin [mid-2016 to now] 
The only rumour that was ever confirmed. The rumour started after Dispatch released a series of pictures of the allegedly the two of them on dates. It continued with the pregnancy rumour spread by allkpop and the fact that BigHit didn't deny the relationship, only the pregnancy. It became a pretty staple rumour between ARMY's, who eagle-eyed watched for any interactions that screamed "couple". It was mostly during events, when Namjoon seemed nervous that Chaelin calmed him. Or the moments when the two were intensely looking at each other. Or Namjoon's looks when Chaelin performed her solos. It was a lot of things that gave it aways but the two never confirmed it. Until Burn the Stage was filmed and they decided to open up about it. Shortly before it premiered, Chaelin took to Instagram to confirm their relationship. In 2018, the two confirmed that they had gotten married, ending every other dating rumour the two ever found themselves in.
