Attention ARMY'S and Chaelin stans!
After a year of waiting, the female member of BTS is finally making her comeback with her second solo album "palette."!
After her solo album "polaroid." had been a major commercial success, fans have anticipated the release of her second solo for quite some time. The 18 year old has teased her fans quite a few times, but every time the album seemed to be released, fans were disappointed with a delay of release.
"I'm very sorry for having made my fans wait so long for this album, but I wanted to perfect every single aspect of it. Also, my work with BTS is still my main focus and our comebacks were the priority," the singer explains in an interview ahead of the release. "I'm very happy with the result right now and I can't wait for everybody to hear it!"

The mini album includes six songs, all of which have been once again written and produced by or with Chaelin. In response to her album layout looking similar to "polaroid.", Chaelin commented that the "two albums are telling a story" and that they "are meant to go together." She also added that, "palette" is a "lot deeper and melancholic" than her first album and that she shows people a side of her she hid before. Surprisingly, BigHit Entertainment dropped two teasers; one for the official title track and one for the B Side "The Rain". Both teasers showcased very different things and music, with "Woman" seemingly more upbeat and "The Rain" a lot more slow and R&B style.
The album is released right before BTS' "BTS LIVE The Most Beautiful Moment in Life on Stage: Epilogue" tour is meant to kick off in Taiwan, although the longer stretch of the tour starts in July. Another surprise is G-Dragon feature on one of the tracks, someone who fans did not expect for Chaelin's first collaboration but are none the less excited about.

The album will be released alongside the music video for the title track on June 1st. Check out he official tracklist down below!

Tracklist
(some tracks belong to other artists)

1 - Woman [TITLE TRACK]
LYRICS: Chaelin, ADORA - PRODUCED BY: Hitman Bang, ADORA
THE SONG: "Woman" is a track about female empowerment and focusing on the good aspects of being one. Chaelin revealed that she wrote the song in response to being hated on for being the only female in BTS and that now, she's very proud of that aspect.

2 - 팔레트 (Palette) [feat. G-Dragon]
LYRICS: Chaelin, G-Dragon, Namjoon - PRODUCED BY: SlowRabbit, G-Dragon, Namjoon
THE SONG: The lyrics declare Chaelin as someone who grew mentally into someone who finally understands more about herself and how she grows into that person. In an interview she revealed that unlike bloom (from her first solo), Palette is not about growth, but understanding of oneself.

3 - The Rain [B SIDE]
LYRICS: Suga, SlowRabbit, Chaelin - PRODUCED BY: Suga, Chaelin
THE SONG: The word "rain" is symbolised as something that causes pain and hurst you and your heart. It describes a negative feeling, yet, it's not clear what is exactly is meant by that. Chaelin also only gave a vague answer in her interview by saying "Every human being is hurt sometimes and associates that with something."

4 - What I Wish I Could Tell You Now
LYRICS: Chaelin - PRODUCED BY: Chaelin, Hitman Bang
THE SONG: Chaelin shared that this song was about people she lost, although she never clarified whom exactly the song was about. In "What I Wish I Could Tell You Now" Chaelin tells someone about what she achieved and how her life is going and how much she wishes she could tell her lost loved ones about all this in person.
BONUS: In 2018, she made a revived version dedicated to Jonghyun and re-released the song as a single, donating all profits to the Shinin Foundation that was started after his death.

5 - 쳐다보지마 (Don't look at me like that)
LYRICS: Chaelin, Namjoon - PRODUCED BY: Pdogg, Namjoon
THE SONG: It's a medium tempo dreamy and exotic ballad song based on hiphop beats with some rock sounds added. "쳐다보지마 (Don't look at me like that)" has controversial, experimental lyrics about love between the same sex, different races, different ages, and other prejudiced and stereotyped relationships. When being asked about it specifically Chaelin only stated: "You love who you love. And that's ok."

6 - OUTRO: thank you, next
(A/N: Not Ariana's song (even though that's a bop))
LYRICS: Chaelin, Pdogg - PRODUCED BY: Pdogg, Hitman Bang
THE SONG: In "thank you, next" Chaelin basically thanks life for throwing challenges and hardships at her and being able to grow from them. Fans suspect that the song was inspired by the sajaegi accusations BTS faced in 2015, even though Chaelin revealed that a lot more inspired the song without revealing anything more.
