Chapter Two:

Grace’s POV

We order dinner and Harry got up to go to the bathroom. I had ordered a chicken salad and Harry ordered a lobster plate. The food had arrived while Harry was gone and his plate looked beautiful so I took a fork and stabbed one of the shrimp and stuck it in my mouth as he came walking around the corner. I tried to chew indiscreetly but I could tell he knew when I saw him quicken his pace as he got closer. He slowed down almost instantly and stuck out a hand to steady himself on the wall, but not for long. If I hadn’t been watching closely, I probably wouldn’t have seen it. But it definitely happened. That’s all the proof that I needed if I was gonna bring the case to question. Wow, I let my inner Law & Order out there.

“Did you steal my food, Grace?” Harry asked.

“No. Why would you think that?” I said, around the mouthful of shrimp.

“Then what are you eating?” He said, raising one eyebrow.

“Chicken. From my salad.” I said, swallowing.

“Come here.” He said, curling his finger toward himself. I scooted my chair around to the side next to him.

            “Here?” I asked.

“Closer.” Harry said, never taking his eyes off of me. I scooted my chair closer until I was right next to him. He reached out and stroked my face then got out of his seat. He got down on one knee.

“Oh my God, Harry. You aren’t proposing are you?” I asked, quietly.

“Ew. Gross. Not yet.” He said.

“Good, I’d hate to be the girl that tells you no, Mr. Styles.” I chuckled, “If you aren’t proposing, what are you doing on one knee?”

“You’re about to find out.” He cleared his throat, “Grace, I just want you to know, you light up my world like nobody else and-“

“No, you are not getting this cheesy on me, are you Harry?” I asked, rudely interrupting.

“Oh yeah, I am. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, and the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed. But when you smile at the ground, it ain’t hard to tell. You don’t know, oh oh, you don’t know you’re beautiful.” He took my hand, I can’t believe he was really doing this. I never pictured him doing this. Louis? Maybe. Liam? Maybe. Harry? NO, never. He pulled out a little black box and opened it up.

My mouth dropped as I took the necklace and looked at it. It had a gold chain which led to a stone. Sapphire, my favorite. He knew me so well. Harry got up off his knee and walked around me saying “It’s called a promise necklace. It’s all the rage. It’s for the couples who are happy, just not so happy that they want to get each other promise rings yet. Plus, we’re both of age. Why get ‘promised’ when we can get engaged? That’s not the point. Do you like it?”
