Meeting the team

I waited a while behind the chair, and every boom that I heard outside made me jump and grip my knife tighter.

It seemed like forever that I was sitting there, and my bum was starting to go numb, but I didn't dare move.

My thoughts were jumbled everywhere, and I took a breath to steady myself. What if the Avengers lock me up too? Before I could begin to have second thoughts, Captain America came back. And he brought the party.

There was a big dude with some wicked looking armor and a hammer, a guy in a metal suit, that I'm guessing is iron man, an awkward looking dude with a blanket around him, and an injured man that The captain and a red head were carrying. They had the scepter too, and I narrowed my eyes at the evil piece of technology.

Captain America looked around. "Are you still here?" He called out.

"I'm-I'm down here."

He looked down at my hiding spot in surprise.

"It's okay. You can come out now. You're safe"

The team watched curiously as I crawled out from my spot. I gripped the knife tight, and he knelt down in front of, and took it from my hands slowly. I noticed that my hands were slightly trembling.

"What's your name," he asked me.

I looked at the other people in the jet, and stared at the man in the iron suit, and then back at the Captain. "You can call me Kyra..."

"Well Kyra, my name is Steve Rogers, and we're gonna let you stay with us okay? You're going to be perfectly safe." Steve got to his feet, and I just looked at the metal floor I was sitting on.

The man in the suit stood in a place inside the wall. His suit started to shed away and went into some hidden compartment.

"So what's special about the ten year old?"

A spark ignited in my chest. "Fifteen. And you're like what, a hundred?"

He smirked. "Actually that would be Spangles over there."

He turned towards Steve, who had just placed the man on a table, and in a loud whisper he said, "I like her."

I smiled nervously. And looked around. The red head was staring at me intensely, and I squirmed.

"Well 'Kyra'." She began. "How do we know that you're not a spy for HYDRA."

"Well if I was a spy, do you think I'd be doing it for the people who kept me in a cage? I was experimented on-" I shut my mouth. I was afraid that I would say to much.

The red haired woman looked at me strangely and I felt like she knew something that I didn't.

I looked away from her and at the man that is iron man. He stared at me, and I just stared back. I didn't feel as scared of him as I did of the others. Matter of a fact, I got to my feet, now fully aware that we were flying, and away from HYDRA.

He raised an eyebrow. "Experiments?"

I shrugged. I usually black out when they run experiments, or whatever it is that they do.

The man with long blonde hair strode forward.

"Hello Lady Kyra. I am Thor Odinson."

"Nice to meet you Thor," I said awkwardly. I knew who he was. I had knowledge about Norse mythology, but no memory of learning it.

"Please just call me Kyra," I added.

"Okay Ky-ra?" I nodded and he smiled a little bit.

I smiled back and turned to the other man. He was sitting in the back of the jet with headphones on.

"That's Bruce," Nat said. I stared at her. The way she was looking at him and how she said his name, suggested that they were more than friends from work.

"He just needs a few minutes to recuperate from hulking out."

I nodded

"Hey kid, it's gonna be a while, so you may wanna catch some shut eye."

I glanced at the team, and fiddled with my wrist. I kept thinking the bracelet was still there.

"Thank you," I said quietly. I went to the back and laid down on a little bench. I closed my eyes.

For once I didn't have any dreams. Only darkness.
