LOST
I once knew a girl
Who believed in dreams
A lover of love
She used to beam
Then life chose
To challenge her light
Throw at her
Every kind of plight
She battled the storm
She learned to swim
She dodged the burn
Wearing a grin
But life wasn't through
With its little test
It wanted to prove
That she'd crumble
Like the rest
It battered and bruised
Shook up and confused
The girl who had dreams
Until nothing was left
She was lost it seems
So little thought
She gave herself
She was like a discarded book
Upon a shelf
Oh, if only one would look
And read a page
The words of love and wisdom
Would be sage.
If only she'd find her way
Back to a place
Where love could
Recognize her face
But till then
She remains lost
Forever tossed
Missing the innocence
That living life costs.
