I See
I see a girl who
Admired you from afar
But what did you see
When you chose to ridicule me?
I see a girl who
Took a chance
Only to have you follow
My best friend around the dance.
I see a young woman
Who would wait to be asked,
On a date, to a dance and
Was always passed.
I see a young woman
Whose first boyfriend she never kissed
3 Months later, he left her
wondering what was remiss.
Finally, someone took a chance
I see a young woman
Who is in love with romance
Be beaten down, abused,
Left used and confused.
Still there was more to come
For this young woman
was meant for someone
He had seen her from time to time
At the bank waiting in line
He saw a woman
Worthy of note
On the back of a coin proof
His number he wrote
It took me a week
To get the nerve to call
Fearful of another fall
But the night he showed up at my door
I wasn't afraid anymore
For I could clearly see
He was the man meant for me.
The rest were all in line
Schooling me over time
Teaching me the lessons
I needed to learn
So his love I could earn.
Still I wonder what you see
every time you look at me
You'd say
A woman I see
who means everything to me
A woman I think so highly of
A woman whose sweet and kind
and beautiful...
I see... My True Love.
