Chapter 7: Heal

Aeryn POV

"You're just right on time, Aeryn!" maligayang bati ni Mr. Clemente.

Bahagya akong nagulat dahil nandoon na silang lahat. Ang meeting time namin ay 5:00 pm but now, 5:30 pm palang at nandito na nga sila. Usually, dadating palang ang mga big bosses 30 minutes after the said time. Nahiya tuloy ako dahil sa tabi ni Mr. Clemente ay iba pang executive directors at ang kapatid niya, ang president ng network namin.

Kakagaling ko lang sa isang shooting sa isang variety show sa under din sa network namin. Medyo nakipagdaldalan pa ang direktor sa amin ni Marjorie kaya naman medyo tumagal kami. Buti nalang at sa same building lang ang shooting dahil kung sa ibang lugar, panigradong mas late pa kami dito.

Ngumiti ako kay Mr. Clemente at umupo sa isa sa mga bakanteng upuan na nakapalibot sa conference room na 'yun. It was a seat next to Ron, Eros' personal assistant. Siya lang ang nasa pagitan naming dalawa...

In the end, his love for his girlfriend pales in comparison to his blooming career, huh? I can't help but smirk a bit. Nababaliw na ata ako. Kahit anong gawin kong pagbabad sa trabaho at alak for the past few days, ito lang ang pa-relieve ng kaonti sa sakit na nararamdaman ko. I've been wishing and praying to the Gods that he'd prioritize his career over some girl. Mukhang pinagbigyan talaga ang hiling ko.

"I'm sorry for being late po. I just finished shooting sa basement with Party Sunday." mahinaon kong sabi.

Ngumiti lang pabalik sa akin si Mr. Clemente. Halatang good mood, ah?

"It's fine, Aeryn! Kilala naman namin kung gaano kadaldal yang si Crisostomo. Anyway, Beth, can you give a whole recap for your handle to be informed?" utos niya kay Tita Beth.

Tita Beth gave a small nod before proceeding.

"Basically, like what I've informed you, Eros have finally got back to his senses. Magkaka-interview kayo bukas sa top-rating show ng network na In2IT where you guys are supposed to admit that you're a couple. We're also talking about future projects and plans for you too... We've been starting to devise the perfect plan and script so it's good that you're on time." pormal niyang sabi.

"I don't know why we haven't had this plan earlier. Mas lalo pa sana mga outside gigs nakuha ng alaga mo, Beth." panunutya ni Mr. Clemente.

"I have actually suggested it earlier but I was hoping they'd get together naturally po. You see their chemistry during sets..." buntong-hininga na sagot ni Tita Beth.

We were all surprised when the network's president spoke up as well... or at least, I thought so. Napansin ko na mula kanina, Eros have maintained a straight face. Walang bahid na emosyon sa mukha niya. He's not hesitating but he's not really engaged with all the plannings as well. Kala ko ba mas prioritize mo yung career mo, huh? Magsalita ka naman! It's good that you left some girl who would only bring danger to your job.

"I was under the assumption that they had a thing going on as well, just like the other loveteams our network have formulated. I've never thought that Eros would go for such a.... lowly talent of ours." matigas na sabi ng network president namin.

He's Mr. Clemente's brother and if Mr. Clemente's brutally honest already, this man is merciless. Sobrang straight-forward!

I didn't notice that a small smile rose up my face after the president spoke. You go, sir!

I really can't believe I've been insecure for the past few days just because Eros chose her. In the end, trabaho parin niya ang importante! At as long as it stays like that, it means that he's kind of choosing me as well.
