hey guysss

happy april fools day!!

"Honestly, can someone tell me why in the world are you doing this homework that is due like two weeks from now on?" My best friend, Jessica Brooks asked for what seemed like the hundredth time.

"Why not do it early when you have time?" I wondered aloud.

"Cheryl, why do you have to do it now?" she asked again, not answering my question. "Can we just go to the mall, get some new clothes, and eat? Why spend time with that scary librarian when you get to spend your afternoon somewhere else?"

I sighed loudly and balled my fist to the sides. "Alright. Just let me finish this paragraph and we'll go."

I walked out of the library with a depressed feeling while Jessica bounces happily next to me. We have known each other for more than seven years from now on, and it sometimes still a mystery to me as why the two of us are best friends. As you might have guessed already, Jessica is the stylish, all about her wardrobe kind of girl, while I am the nerdy one. She wakes up an hour early just to put her makeup on while I would probably scratch someone like a cat if anyone dares to put makeup on me. She's the living gossip machine while I'm the walking encyclopedia. She likes boys, I prefer books. Yeah, so you see why I'm still wondering we're best friends? But hey, whatever super power that glued us together, I'm still glad to have her by my side. Even though I don't tell her that.

"Anywho, why the mall again? Another party coming up?" I asked.

"Ah yes! It's Caleb's party. Everyone's welcome to come. So, comin'?" she squealed and looks hopeful.

"Jess. You know I don't do parties." I laughed, shaking my head as I start the engine.

"Why?" she said, pouting. I think deep down she always knew that she will get rejected. It happens all the time where there is a party.

I raise an eyebrow at her.

"Why not? Everybody is allowed to come!" she asked again, not giving up.

Ha. Jess may welcome me to the party, but I can't imagine the others doing the same.

"Nope. Not today, not never. End of story." I said in a firm voice as I make a left turn.

She slouches back into her seat and sighed. "Why are you always so difficult? Well, incase you change your mind, you know what to do."

"Jess, I can hardly picture that happening."

Yeah, my life is all dull and plain, but hey, in less than one year, I'll be off to Stanford, spending my next few years with the people of my kind. Stanford is my dream school, and I can't see how going to parties is going to help me achieve my goal. I just focus on what I'm doing now and nothing will change. That's how I like it, organized, original, and unchanged. Nothing surprising will come barging into my life.

Well, at least that's what I thought.
