Today was a long day for me. It was as if my brain just stopped functioning. I went to the library this afternoon since I will be spending my evening out with Jessica, Aaron, and Mason.
The automatic door of the library opened, bringing the warm breeze from outside into the building. A tall figure walked in, and all the girls in the library started to whisper. I rolled my eyes and increased the volume of my AirPods. Jesus, did you all come here to study or what?
All the whispering stopped when I hear the dragging of a chair near me. More specifically, in front of me. I groaned internally, not wanting to anyone to disturb me while I study for the math test that we have next Monday. That means that I would have to try harder in teaching Andrew, since he haven't been improving much lately. I made a mental note to myself to remind him to do a little revision by himself first.
"So, when are you going to acknowledge my existence?" the familiar voice in front of me said.
My face snapped up. In front of me is THE Aiden Brooks, sitting in the library. With his books open in front of him. What the hell is he doing in the library?
"Wow." I said, not knowing what to say in return.
"I know. I'm very wow," he said, pleased with my response.
To be honest, his outfit was great today. I'm sure he received a lot of compliments from his group of fan girls.
I chose to ignore his statement and changed the topic. "Are you actually studying?" I was shocked. Aiden is the type of guy that gets good grades without even having to try. I took out the AirPod from my left ear so I can hear his reply.
"Tutor me." he said, placing both of his hands onto my books.
"No!" I replied, swatting his hands away before he wrinkles my papers.
"Then why did you agree to tutor Andrew?" he humphed, not pleased with my response.
"Cuz I was forced to and I get paid." I forced a sarcastic smile onto my face and continued with my work.
"Then what if I paid you too?"
I put my hands up in front of my face like stop sign. "Let's not start this conversation," and I put my Airpod back into my ear, indicating that this conversation is over.
Throughout my whole study session, I could feel Aiden's eye from me from time to time, but I chose to ignore it. I kind of feel bad for rejecting him earlier. Since he had missed one month of school due to his training, he would have a lot of work to catch up to. It is normal for him to come for someone and ask for help, right?
oOoOoO
I had been studying for around 30 more minutes when my phone rang, reminding myself of the 'promise' I made to Jessica.
"Hey Aaron," I answered, packing up my things and getting ready to go.
"Where are you? I just finished football practice," he asked, still panting.
"I'm in the library. Did you see Jessica? I'm pretty sure she's still at cheer,"
"Yup, I'm going to go get her in a few minutes and I'll stop by at the library to get you. Then we can drive over to the shop and get Mason from his shift," he shouted into the phone since the rest of his teammates are still practicing loudly.
"Ok-" I started to say, but he just hung up on me. I looked at my phone, hating it when this happens.
I looked at Aiden, about to tell him that I have to go first.
"You and Aaron are hanging out?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.
I sighed, telling him the whole story of Jessica and Mason. I expected him to laugh, but instead, he just sat there, not finding this situation funny at all. Maybe he was just being over protective of his younger sister.
A honk of a car outside interrupted my chain of thoughts. I was about to comment on the lack of manners of the driver honking outside the library, but I received a phone call from Aaron. I pulled my lips into a thin smile, kind of expecting this kind of action from him anyways.
I said my goodbye to Aiden and walked out the library, mentally preparing myself for what I have to go through later.
I walked outside the library and inhaled a big breath of fresh air. I saw Jessica at the back seat of Aaron's convertible car, waving at me with a big smile on her face. It was an understatement to say that she was excited. I quickly hopped in and greeted the both of them.
"Let's go, shall we?" Aaron said, looking at us through the rear view mirror. Without waiting for our answer, he 'vroomed' out of the school campus.
oOoOoO
We quickly picked up Mason and went to the Mid-city Mall, which is where most of the students hang out after school. So it wasn't a surprise when I saw many familiar faces.
"So, shall we split?" Jessica asked as soon as we found a parking space.
"Maybe we can go watch a movie together?" I quickly answered, not wanting to be along with Aaron at all.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Jessica gave me a thumbs up and a beaming smile. To Jessica, watching a movie is one of the top items on her to-do lists during a date. But I don't even know if this is a date or just a friendly hangout.
"Let's watch Frozen II then," Mason said while checking the theater app on his phone. "The other movies are all pretty boring."
Jessica leaned over to shotgun to have a look at Mason's phone and sat back with a frown on her face. She pointed at her phone, indicating me to check my text message.
Jess<3: frozen 2 isn't romantic at all :(
Me: ur still gonna be in the theater and theres no other choices. take it or leave it..
I looked at her and shrugged my shoulders.
Mason pre-ordered the tickets for 7pm, which means we still had around 1 hour before the movie starts.
"Let's go eat. Cheryl said she was hungry" Aaron pointed out suddenly.
I looked up and glared at him. "No I'm not." As if that was a cue, my stomach started grumbling. I bit my lips, embarrassed. "Okay, maybe a little"
"Aw cute," Jessica added remarkably while Mason wiggled his eyebrows at Aaron.
I saw Aaron winked subtly at Mason and Jessica came and walked next to me.
"Dude, what? Aren't you supposed to be walking with Mason?" I whispered to her, while trying to turn my head slightly to see what the boys are doing behind us.
"Is that your way of saying that you want to walk with Aaron?" she said not-so-quietly.
"Shut up!" I slapped her on the shoulders. "On a second thought, lets walk together." I finished my sentence and dragged her to follow me.
