Alright, here we go.

I have liked you for a long time. I love you with my heart and soul. I promise to give my all to you. I will hold you in my arms and will never let you cry. I've had heartbreaks in the past and I can't make you love me, but I can tell you how much I love you. Please be the one who stays. Please be the one who knows and reciprocates my love.

Jessica waits for me to finish reading the letter and lets out a sigh, "Well isn't this romantic?"

When I didn't respond to her, she looks at me and quickly adds "I mean, at least he isn't dumb enough to mention your name nor his initial, right?"

I simply nodded in response and screamed internally. How in the world am I supposed to 'know and reciprocate your love' when I have no fricking idea who you are?

The school bell rang, indicating the start of the first lesson of the day,  which is literature class with Ms. Angela, and well, Aaron.

I hold my folders close to my chest as I make my way down the hall to the classroom, hoping that Aaron would be absent today. As if my wish was heard, I see him standing outside the classroom, looking around like he was waiting for someone. His head turns towards my direction and I walk to him, trying my best to put up a neutral face.

"Why didn't you go in first?" I asked him in a monotonous way. I'm not sure if I sounded monotonous or not, but I'm pretty sure my voice cracked in the middle of the sentence. Great job Cheryl.

"No specific reason," he shrugged, acting like it was no big deal and walked in after me.

I stayed in my seat and scrolled through my phone mindlessly while Aaron chatted happily with his friends across the room at his seat next to me.

The clicking of high heels can be heard coming from down the hall and the class immediately settled down, waiting for Ms Angela to enter. The amount of respect this class has for Ms Angela is heartwarming, and there is no doubt that she tops the 'favourite teacher list' of our senior class.

"Alright class, please open the document that I posted on Google Classroom. We will start our lesson in a few minutes," Ms Angela said as soon as she walked in.

As soon as she put the lesson material on her desk, she walked over down my aisle and stopped at Aaron's table.

"Sorry about the issue. I'll talk to the publisher and get your writing published in the next edition," she said softly with a warm smile.

"No problem," Aaron said in return, not forgetting to flash Ms Angel his signature golden smile.

I looked up from my phone and tilted my head quizzically. What issue?

I quickly went to Messenger and texted him.

Me: what issue..?

His phone 'dinged' in response and it took him a few seconds until he turns around and looks at me.

"Really?" he asked, laughing. "You could've just asked me that instead of typing. I'm right next to you."

I pursed my lips and thought for a moment. "Nah, now reply me".

His look lingered on my face for a little more than a second and went back to his phone.

Aaron C: apparently my spot in the newspaper got taken. prob someone on the publishing team. whatev

I stopped, taken aback. "So that wasn't you?" I said, a little too loudly.

He scratched his head. "The letter? No way in hell was that me. Why'd you ask?"

"Nothing, thought you had a crush on someone and didn't let me know."

I turned my head to face the front of the classroom, but there was a strange feeling in me. Am I really relieved that it wasn't Aaron?

I can still see him looking at me from the side of my eye but I just ignore him.

oOoOoO

"Someone from the publishing team? But none of the 'A's are from the publishing team!" Jessica exasperated. "I was going to bet my entire collection of perfume that it would be Aaron, but thank god I didn't."

I looked at Jessica and just shook my head. It's now lunch break and we are sitting at one of the benches next to the field, watching as the football team warm-up and get ready for practice.

"Anyways, you still coming to the game on Friday night?" she asked.

I totally forgot about that until she brought it up. I faintly remember promising her to go to the football game that's happening this week and I don't know why I did it.

"Not sure Jess, I've got tutoring with Andrew on Fridays." This is totally not me trying to back up from my promise.

"Well even better! I'll go hang out with Mason before the game while you do the same with Andrew!" she exclaimed.

How many times do I have to tell her that we do actual tutoring instead of 'hanging out'?

Speaking of Andrew and tutoring, our next period is math and we are getting our result from the math lest last week. I really hope Andrew at least got a decent score on it. It would be a huge blow to my ego if he does worse than he usually does, even though I thought that test was pretty hard as well.

oOoOoO

"Hi teach!" A loud voice greets me from across the hall. I immediately recognised that voice before I'm even close enough to see his face.

Jessica looks at me with a gleaming smile on her face and pushes me forward. "Your boy called for you, now run!"

I accidentally tripped over my untied shoelace and slowed my pace down. As soon as I slowed down, he started to run towards me and stopped in front of my face. A little bit too close to my face.

"You're going to smash that pretty face of yours if you don't tie your shoelace, teach" he whispered in my right ear.

As soon as he finished his sentence, he bent down and-

And exactly why am I not pushing him away?

oOoOoO
