I'm starting to think tutoring Andrew 3 times a week is too much to handle. It takes way more energy than it should just to teach him and make him understand. It makes me wonder if he actually puts in any effort at all.

Anyways, today is Wednesday and our math teacher said we're getting our results of the test on Friday. And, he specifically looked at me and Andrew when he said that there will be a re-test for those who failed. Seems like Principal Weatherbee told him about my tutoring with Andrew. Great. No pressure.

I walked to the library by myself, watching the field as the the football team start their game and the court as the basketball team start their warm-ups. And the cheerleaders practicing their chants for the next game. Then there's me stuck with Andrew while I wait for the two siblings to finish their practice.

Speaking of Andrew, he comes running into the library just as I was about to sit down at my usual seat.

"You're late! Again!" I said accusingly, even though I had just arrived a few seconds before him.

"Nope, we ain't doing that today," he said with a big smiled on his face. "I'm taking you out."

"What do you mean?" I demanded. "I don't want to be taken out."

He grabbed my hand and began to pull me out of the library.

As a reflex response, I brushed his hand off.

"Cheryl, do you really not know what day today is?" he said, his eyes sparkling.

"Today is the day where I'm supposed to tutor you. Now sit down." I replied angrily, pointing at the seat that he was supposed to be sitting at.

Why can he just simply assume that I would want to go out with him? I'm not like the other girls that just does whatever he says. I'm determined to get this tutor thing done.

"Funny," he laughs. "Today is my birthday!"

To be honest, I'm not surprised. I've heard this from the mouth of multiple girls today, talking about giving him birthday presents and surprises.

"Happy birthday to you then," I replied dryly. "Now will you grant me a wish and sit down to learn?"

He gasps. "A special day like this shouldn't be wasted this way. Come on, let's go."

I don't want to waste my time with him. Besides, we don't even know each other that well enough to go on a proper 'hangout'. I'm sure that the news of me going out with Andrews will be all over school tomorrow. By then, all the girls would probably be pissed at me and the last thing I want is to be involved in some sort of drama.

"If this is so special for you, then I'll go home. Go spend your special day with someone special then," I said, partially PMS-ing. I started to pack my bag by throwing my things inside. I didn't even bother to hide my irritation.

It seems like he noticed that something was off, because the next thing he said to be caught be off guard.

"You're special, Cheryl," he suddenly said, taking both of my hands. "Don't ever think you're not."

That's sounds easier said than done, especially when you spend your whole life in a household that literally deteriorates your mental health. I've done so much these past few years just to hang in there, just living on the thought that the future will bring something that's much better than this. And for years, I believed it, and worked hard for it.

"Aw, man. Since you're in a bad mood now because of me, I have to take you out then!' he takes this as the perfect opportunity to drag me out of the library and pushes me inside his car.

I sit in the car, beyond shocked. I never thought that there would be a day that I would be sitting in  Andrew Taylor's car.

Then, a thought struck me.

"How many girls have sat on this seat before?" I asked, pointing at the shotgun seat that I'm currently sitting on.

He ponders for a while and answered, "Just a few," and smiled sheepishly.

I opened my eyes wide. "Then did you guys ever...?" I asked again, suddenly disgusted by the fact that I'm sitting-

"No Cherly. If you look closely, my windows aren't tinted," he winked.

I turned my head around to verify his statements. It's true.

"Before you drive me anywhere, promise me that you will attend all of our tutoring sessions," I said with authority.

He started to nod his head to agree but I stopped him.

"And, you will not be late to any single one of them." This should be a good deal.

He clicked his tongue and started driving, indicating that he would not break his promise.

I hope.

oOoOoO

I think I dosed off in his car, because when I woke back up, we are no longer in the school's parking lot. We're on a road I'm fairly familiar with.

"Where are we going?" I asked, still half awake. I'm surprised that he didn't take me deep into the forests or anything like that.

"Book Addicts! The coffee that Aaron makes in this place is amazing!" he exclaims. "Since I can't get to Starbucks after school today, I'll get Aaron to make me coffee. "

We got off the car, and Andrew walked into the store without waiting for me. Not that matters to me anyways, since I wanted to take some pictures of the sunsets. It looks amazing today. I'm like a sunset freak, in love with how the sky looks every time at dawn.

From the window, I could see that Andrew pointing his fingers up and ordering two coffees. Aaron looked confused for a second until Andrew pointed outside the shop at me. I waved at Aaron and walked into the shop.

"Hi Aaron!" I said.

"Your here with Andrew?" Aaron asked, clearly shocked.

Andrew pretend to not hear Aaron's question and walked to a bookshelf. We all know he's still listening because Aaron never reads.

"I know," I replied, rolling my eyes. "It's his birthday and I coincidentally had to tutor him after school day. Anyways, he promised to never be late to any tutor sessions from now on."

Aaron arched his eyebrows, not convinced.

I shrugged my shoulders. "Add two pumps of vanilla to my coffee!" I told Aaron before heading to a table nearby to sit down.

A few minutes later, Aaron came and serve the coffee and Andrew came to my table and sat down in front of me.

"Can I sit?" Aaron asked. He really didn't have to ask that question. I would literally beg him to sit down for me to not be alone with Andrew.

"Of course!" I said quickly and dragged a chair from the nearby table for him.

I looked at Andrew, thinking that he would've agreed as well. These two people are good friends after all. However, Andrew just has a blank expression on his face and just looked at his phone.

Talk about mood swings.
