 "So," Jessica started.

I groaned internally. The last time she said this to me, I ended up going to Book Addicts with her for her to flirt. I wonder what plan she has in her mind this time .

"No," I rejected. I'm completely against whatever idea she is thinking about.

"About the football game next week," she continued. I get the same talk from her every football season, telling me to go and support the school.

I mean, let's be honest. The real reason that any girl go to the game is for them to show off their boyfriends and wear his jersey. So why should I even go if I don't have a boyfriend, or even a jersey?

"Come one! We both know that you have nothing better to do next Friday night, or any Friday night if we're being completely honest."

"That's not true. I have to-," I tell her the excuse I tell her every single time.

"Yea, study," she interrupted. "That's what you tell me every time."

I could tell she was getting frustrated. I was too. I don't find the point in going to these games.

"This should be your apology for picking me up late this morning," she exclaimed, finally finding a good excuse.

"But you drove yourself to school perfectly fine! It's just that I coincidentally agreed to pick you up on a day of your morning practices and I was also just coincidentally late!"I blurted out.

"Come on, Cheryl. You've got nothing to lose," Jessica said, becoming serious. "You know that colleges don't only look at your grades in your resume right?"

That's true. You've got to have something other than grades to impress them. Something that stands out in your essays. So far, mine is all about clubs and grades. And maybe my tutor sessions with Andrew. I know completely well that this is not enough to impress Stanford.

"Jessica Brooks, this will be the first and last time that you'll ever succeed in persuading me to going to any events," I said, being semi-serious.

"Of course! Because after this one, you'll become obsessed with it," she winks and linked our arms together as we walked to the cafeteria.

oOoOoO

"Jessica?" I had a spoonful of rice in my mouth and I'm not even sure if she understood me.

"Yeah?" she replied, looking up from her food tray. We had pasta and fruits for school lunch today. It's one of those days where our school has good food. Some days are just completely terrible that I would regret not packing lunch. Thank god they became clever this year and prepared menus that showed us all the lunches we will be having everyday for the whole school term. This way, we will be able to choose what days to pack lunch and what days to eat school lunch.

"I feel like the time I've spent with boys in the past week and been more than the total amount of boys I've spent with my entire life," I said, realizing what I said was absolutely true.

"I think it's fair to say that the statement is true," Jessica shrugged. "I mean, that's what I've been telling you."

"Can we have a sleepover?" I asked, deciding to ignore what she just said. We haven't had a sleepover since forever. "Just a night with us two girls, chilling and talking," I explained. "We haven't done that in so long, especially with us having all the homework load last year."

Senior year will be much more stress-free after we finish the college applications. The homework load you get in junior year is insane. I basically never got a good night sleep last year. It was a nightmare. If I had to stay up late to finish my work, I don't understand how the kids who are partying all day manage to do so. I can never understand them and their work schedule. I mean, they seem to be on the top of scheduling all the parties, but that's it.
