(Zonnique POV)

The rest of the first week of school was pretty cool. Rina didn’t say nothing else to me and whenever Sara tried to, Rina just told her to shut up. Ray was missing all week. Which was pretty strange. At first, I wasn’t worried about it. Now, it’s Friday afternoon and I was kinda concerned. Being a good partner, I had all his homework (from the classes we had together) that I wanted to give to him, but I needed his address. So…I went to ask Sydney. Sydney and me are cool, not real close, but still friends. She was at her locker, with her boyfriend Trey.

 “Hey, Sydney.” I walk up.

She smiles. “Hey, Zonnique. What’s up?”

“I wanted to give Ray his homework, you know his address?” I asked.

“I’m pretty sure Ray doesn’t want the Loch Ness Monster knowing where he stays.” Trey says, with a smirk.

“Trey, shut the hell up.” Sydney says. “Damn, I am so fxcking tired of you and Ray being mean to Zonnique.” She looked back at me. “Sorry.”

 “It’s whatever. I ain’t even mad. Like…what’s the point?” I shrug.

She smiled and gives me Ray’s address.

I leave school and head over to his house. I ring the doorbell and wait.

A lady answers the door. She’s really pretty.

 “Hello.” She smiles.

“Hi, I’m Zonnique Miller. Ray’s English partner. I just wanted to give him the work he missed this week.” I said, with a smile.

“Oh, how nice. I’m Kelly, his aunt.” She lets me in. “Ray’s room is up the stairs, second door on your right.”

I follow her instructions. Ray’s door is closed. I knock.

“What?” He voice is muffled by the door.

I opened the door. Ray’s laying on his bed, arm over his eyes, with Drake and Rihanna’s “I’ll Take Care Of You” playing on low.

“I just wanted to give you your homework.” I said, setting down the work on his computer desk. I looked around his room.

Damn…this was a nice a$$ room.

Ray takes his arm off his eyes and sits up. “Oh, hey Domi.” He says.

I wave and lean on the wall. “So…you faking this or…?”

He snorted. “Please. that’s insulting. I haven’t faked being sick since elementary school.” Ray says.

 I actually laughed.

“Whoa…was…was that a LAUGH I heard coming from little Domi’s mouth?” Ray smiled.

I shake my head, giggling. “Shut up.” I said. “So, what’s wrong?”

“Food poisoning. My auntie always told me not to eat the food at the boardwalk…but…that taco stand was calling my name.” Ray says.

 “You like tacos?” I asked.

“Like is an understatement. I LOVE tacos.” Ray says.

 I nod, slowly. “Me too.”

 “Really?” He seems surprised.

“Yup. My daddy makes THE best tacos…ever.” I said.

 “That’s a lie.” Ray says.

 “How?” I asked.
