(Domi POV)
The hell? Why is it so dark? And…cold? I sat up and looked around.
“Zonnique…”
I got up and spun around. The hell? What is this? “Who’s there?”
A girl dressed in all white appears. She looked familiar. Wait…hold up. She…she was…me.
“What is this?” I asked, watching as another me appears in all black.
“You gotta make a decision.” Black-me says.
“Who are y’all?” I asked.
“I’m Angel.” White-me smiles.
“Hell.” Back-me smiles evilly. Then laughs. “Kidding, I’m Tammy. We’re your conscience, Zonnique.”
“Why am I seeing y’all then?” I asked.
“You died.” Haven says.
“What?!” I screech. “How the hell did I die?”
“You were in a car wreck. You died on the operating table.” Tammy says.
This shxt was way too creepy. “Where am I?”
“Inside you conscience. You have to make a choice.” Angel says.
“Between…?” I asked.
“Life or death…” Tammy says.
“The hell? I wanna live!” I said.
“You sure? I mean…look at your life. The one you “love”…Ray…yeah, he doesn’t love you." Tammy says. “He’s only playing you. You know it too, you just wanna believe he’s changed.”
“Don’t listen to her.’’ Angel spat “Ray loves you, he’s changing. Look…” Angel says. A break in the black wall appears, showing Ray. He was crying hysterically on the floor.
“Why’s he crying?” I asked, as my heart starts to break.
“He just the news that you died.” Angel says, softly. “That proves he loves you. If he didn’t…he wouldn’t even be here…”
“Yeah, but look…” Tammy says. Another break opens. It’s me walking down the hall…why did this look so familiar?
“Look familiar?” Tammy asks.
I nod. “I can’t remember to clearly, though.”
“Sophomore year, on your birthday…” Tammy says.
Right! I was so happy I was 16.
Ray appears on screen, with a cake. I stopped walking, getting a confused look on my face.
Oh…yeah…I remember…
He smiles then smashes the cake in my face, ruining my makeup, hair, and outfit. He laughs, walking away.
“You really believe that he loves you? I mean, he did that to you…on your BIRTHDAY. The one day that you’re suppose to happy. PLUS, it was your sweet 16.” Tammy says.
I looked down, the memories returning. Ugh…I can’t think straight.
“Stop it, Tammy! Ray loves her!” Angel says.
“No, he does not!” Tammy says. “Look, Zonnique…we’re running out of time. You could live at peace…and let us take you. Or…you can go back to the hell on Earth…that you think is heaven…” Tammy says.
“Go back to him, Zonnique. He needs you.” Angel says.
I nod, tears falling. “I wanna go back.”
Angel smiles and nods. “Bye, Nique…”
I heard beeping, then my eyes opened. I took a deep breath, catching the attention of the nurse in the room.
“Oh..my…” She runs out.
I take slow deep breaths. Where was I…?
The doctor runs in. “What..? This—this is a miracle…” He says. “Get the family…”
The nurse runs out, moments later my whole crew runs in.
“Nique!” They crowd around me, hugging me.
“Oh my God…” Ty cried. “I—I thought…”
I close my eyes and hug them back. “Wait…where’s Craig and Ray?”
“Craig stormed out after we got the news…” Jake says.
“And…Ray?” I asked.
Ray stepped into view, tears falling.
That sight made me start crying. “Ray..”
“Nique…” He says, hugging me tightly.
I’m glad I made the right decision…I love him so much.
