(Author POV)
It’s been a month and half and Nique recovered fine. Craig still blames Ray, even though he and Nique had talked. Now, it’s the week of Homecoming and everyone is excited. The Homecoming game and dance should be dope. Keyword…“should”…
(Craig POV)
I walked into school, it’s Thursday…tomorrow’s Homecoming, I’m real excited.
“Craig!”
I turn around and MiMi jumped into my arms. “Hey.” I laugh. “Why are you so happy?”
“Homecoming is tomorrow.” MiMi says, as we walk the hall.
“I know. You got your dress, right?” I asked.
“Stupid question, right?” She counters.
I pushed, laughing.
She giggled. “Yeah, it’s red.”
“Oooh…” I said.
“I figured I should wear your favorite color, since you’re my boyfriend.” Mi says.
“How sweet.” I said, giving her a hug.
She laughs. “I know right. I’m so sweet.”
I roll my eyes. “I wouldn’t go that far.”
“What are you trying to say?” She laughs.
I smile. “Nothing.” I say.
She hip-bumps me. “Hater.”
“Only for you.” I said, kissing her.
She kissed me back.
“Yuck.”
We pull apart.
“You is a hater, Nique.” I laugh, giving her a hug. Ever since the accident, we’ve been getting real close.
She smiled. “I’m playing. You two love birds wanna hit up Rijo’s after school?” Nique asks.
“Is He coming?” I asked.
Nique rolled her eyes. “Craaaig, yes. He’s my boyfriend.”
“Then…I’m busy.” I shrug.
“Oh my goodness, Craig. Why don’t you just forgive and forget, like Nique.” MiMi says.
“I don’t know why Nique did. I mean, he killed you.” I said.
Nique sighed and ran her hand through her hair. “Craig…” She sighs. “He didn’t kill me. I’m standing here, aren’t I?”
“Doctor said that was a miracle.” I said.
“You know what…I’m not having this conversation again.” Nique says.
I shrug. “Then don’t.”
“Whatever. MiMi, if you wanna come, the offer still stands.” Nique says, then walks off.
“Really?” MiMi looks at me.
“What?” I asked.
“Why can’t you just get passed it?” Mi asks.
“Mi’Kayla, he almost killed my sister. That’s not something I can just “get pass”." I said.
“Craig, think about it. Nique forgave him and she went through it. You and Ray were finally getting close…he didn’t do this on purpose, okay?” Mi says.
I lean on the lockers.
“So…you gon’ let it go?” She asks.
I look down and shrugged.
