Disclaimer: You don't have to be Ishvalan in this story. A friend read it over and thought that's what the story implied. But I literally didn't even think about it. Also, please leave a comment on how you liked this chapter. I might've gotten rusty...

Enjoy.

You slowly opened your eyes, blinded by the grey skies before you.

Everything hurt.

Furrowing your eyebrows, you moved, pushing yourself up.

"Don't move." A gruff voice said.

You looked over to your left.

He sat a few feet from you, red eyes looking straight into your own.

"...what happened?" You asked, ignoring him and sitting up anyway.

He stared at you, and you looked at the flowers that were stained red.

You felt weak and dizzy, and your arm hurt.

Looking over, you saw it.

Gone.

Oh.

He called out to you.

Oh shit.

But you couldn't hear him.

Your hands shook, trembling as if the weight of this newfound information was too heavy.

The world stood still.

You yelled.

He took your only hand, pressing you to his chest as a soft expression crossed his face.

You called his real name, the one he had abandoned but you found beautiful and weird on your tongue. You said it over and over.

"I'm here." He told you, each time you said it.

Squeezing his hands, you leaned into him.

When you finally stopped, you both sat there, clinging to each there, as f letting go meant falling forever.

"...you-" he swallowed. "You stubborn fool. I told you to stay behind me."

You remember the way the alchemist had grinned, darkness in his eyes. His laugh, you knew, would haunt you forever.

Kimblee, his comrades called him.

Kimblee had reached for you him, arms stretched out to destroy.

You moved in front of him, arms raised.

And then you woke up.

With nothing below your left elbow.

His face was bandaged, and you both were outside, underneath the stars.

His hands were bloody, too bloody.

And his eyes were dark and unforgiving.

"What happened?" You asked, voice dry and cracking.

He hesitated.

"...some medics from Amestris he helped us."

"Did they ditch us after helping?" You half joked.

He said nothing, and you waited for an answer.

You called his name like a question.

"Rest, (Y/n)... We'll start traveling in the morning."

Closing your eyes, you squeeze his hand again.

He was trembling.

You frowned at the man before you, both of you glaring at one another, as you dared him to move forward.

Edward Elric was on the ground behind you, eyes wide as he told you to flee.

You stretched your arm out, protecting the boy.
"Move." He told you again.

A few months after the War, when you started to learn to live without an arm, and you both started healing, and found a small shack...

He ditched you.

So you more or less had a bone to pick with him.

"No." You told him.

Your (e/c) eyes were unwavering and bright, just as they had been years ago.

He lowered his arm, glaring at you.

A little fear went into your heart, but you stood your ground.

Turning around, you kneeled down, helping the boy up.

"If you help him...I have no choice but to attack you as well."

Scoffing, you put the Elric's  arm over your shoulders.

"Try it...Scar."
