Why are green sea turtles endangered? Adult green sea turtles have a herbivorous diet. They graze on algae and prune seagrass beds like underwater landscapers. Although juveniles often prey on invertebrates, including easy to nab jellyfish. Green sea turtles have thick-skin and are immune to the stinging tentacles of even the most venomous species. Even tho the jellyfish can be hard to handle it is full of nutrients for green sea turtles. Green sea turtles are endangered because of all the plastic that's in our waters and they eat it. There was a study published in the journal Global Change Biology. The study showed that at least half of the world’s sea turtles eat plastic at some point in their lives. The cause of the green sea turtles being endangered is the garbage we threw in our waters every day.
