Hydrangeas symbolize heartfelt emotions. They can be used to express gratitude for being understood. In its negative sense hydrangeas symbolize frigidity and heartlessness. First discovered in japan, the name hydrangea comes from the Greek word "hydor," meaning water, and "angos," meaning jar or vessel. This roughly translates to "water barrel," referring to the hydrangea's need for plenty of water and its cup-shaped flower. According to a Japanese legend, a proud emperor used a bouquet of hydrangeas as an apology to the family of a girl with whom he was in love.

Monday, 12:00 p.m. - a week before the entrance exams.

If there was one thing you were good at, it was sleeping in. Groaning, you rolled over on your side as your stomach gurgled out what could only be described as an exorcism in progress. You looked up at your nightstand to meet the red, glowing numbers displaying the time. 12 p.m.

Panicking, you practically threw the covers off of you, before rushing over to your closet to get changed. After a few minutes of destroying your closet, you decided on an with a light brown, long cardigan with a white blouse, as well as some light jeans that had a few holes and white trainers.

Normally, you would have made yourself lunch after watering your plants. A simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with a few cut up fruits on the side. However, because of you deciding to sleep in 6 extra hours, you decided that it'd be too late for you to make yourself anything. Or, rather, you were just too lazy. As such, you thought you may as well go out somewhere to get lunch; maybe a café or something.

Sadly though, before you could satisfy your loud stomach, you had to take care of your precious flowers. It wasn't like you really minded though, as your flowers were a great part of your life. Your mother always loved plants, no matter the color, shape, or size - just like how she would care for anyone, no matter who or what they were. Your father always made sure that she could have as many plants as she wanted; he made gardens for her, and even went as far as to make an entire greenhouse once when he was taking a break from making his own business. All for the woman he loved.

For the first few years of your life, you didn't really care about plants. You were more preoccupied with your crayons and coloring sheets, rather than different soils and stems. After a few years, you grew to love plants - flowers, especially. Your mother became ecstatic, happy that you would share some of the same interests as her. As such, you and your mother became much closer, spending time together whenever you could.

Shaking your head, you decided to move on from the past.

You opened the doors to your personal greenhouse, or 'plant home' as you liked to call it. Walking in, you headed to the right corner of the well lit place, where a small faucet was sticking out of the wall. You picked up the green watering can next to it, before placing in directly under the faucet. Turning the knob to the right, water slowly started to come out of the faucet; splashing directly into the watering can

Picking up the watering can, you brought it to almost every patch of flowers you had, before going back to refill it. You still had some water when you went to refill it, however the last flower you needed to tend to required almost an entire can to itself - the hydrangea.

Personally, you loved hydrangeas. They could become so many different colors, so much so that they almost reminded you of a chameleon. Ranging from green to blue, purple and pink, these flowers were some of your favorites.
