Kat was currently on a business trip to a different pack to discuss some Enforcer issues. It was her turn to deal with this since Zane was back home helping Adam with several issues. She was missing her mate but by now they were somewhat used to being separated occasionally. One Second needed to be at the pack as much as possible. It was much like one of the Alpha's needed to be there.

Currently she was wandering around downtown since it was early evening and the meetings for the day were done. What the pack wanted was to have some of the Wild Valley trainer/enforcers to come and work with their Enforcers. It was known the Wild Valley pack had hosted the Academy for three decades and had some of the best trained. They'd wanted to see if they could get Zane and part of his team, but she'd told them it wasn't possible right now. They'd have to deal with one of the other teams. Adam and Zane both trained the Enforcers. Brook helped as well though she tended to scare the less dominant enforcers.

As she was walking around she felt a hand touch her pocket and start to remove her wallet. Unlike many women, she didn't normally carry a purse. She snapped around and grabbed the front of the hoody the person was wearing, "Anyone ever told you it's a bad idea to try and steal from a wolf?" Her eyes had changed slightly as her wolf moved forward. The scent of the child hit her, and she leaned forward and sniffed her neck, "You have wolf DNA. What the hell are you doing out here? You should be with the pack."

The girl jerked when the other had spun and grabbed her. She wasn't used to that reaction since she was good with picking pockets. When the woman leaned forward and sniffed she tried to get away, but the woman was incredibly strong. The mention of a pack made her jerk, "Don't have a pack. Was told not wolfy enough for one." She'd been kicked out of her house when her adoptive parents discovered she was part wolf. She could change though it'd taken a while before it showed.

Kat kept her hold on the girl's hoody, "Bullshit to whoever told you that. Why are you on the street and don't bother lying to me. I'll smell it and see it." She was still glaring at the girl. Something was going on and she would find out.

The girl tried tears since they normally worked, "Don't have a home. I's changed, and my adoptive parents kicked me out. They didn't want a freak of a child." It didn't help having her stomach rumble since she was hungry. She hadn't eaten since that morning and being honest it wasn't enough.

Kat's face hardened, "I will deal with this. You are coming with me and I'm going to ensure you have a good home and enough food for you to eat." She might just have a conversation with her adoptive parents which was going to be extremely painful and they might not be seen again.

Now her tears were real, "No, don't take me." She looked down since her wolf could feel the dominance of the other, "I's the oldest of a number of children. I's do my best to keep them fed. I's can't leave them. Don't take me."

Kat picked the girl up and pulled her into a good hug, "In that case lets get some food for them and you will show me where you are living. I will deal with this. No pup should have to deal with what you are. I will find a place you will be safe." She settled the girl on one hip and headed to a Mexican place and walked in.

The man at the counter snarled, "Get that gutter rat out of here. She's stolen from me before." He glared at the girl as he was talking.

Kat growled even as she was pulling her wallet out, "I'm Elder Katya Donovan. My mate is Elder Zane Donovan. Don't fuck with me. I brought her in and I'll ensure she doesn't take anything. If you tell me to leave I'll talk to the local pack and ask the Alpha to consider this place no-wolf location." She was almost spitting the words out. On the door was a sign which had 'wolf sized burrito' on it.  Sometimes being able to pull the 'Elder' out worked well, although for the most part she hated being called an Elder; she was still in her first century!
