When the nights were dark,
so meant to vanish
before the dawn
could cushion;

Against every time
I was shown the inky nights,
finally feeling the air
beneath,

You flit right through the cracks
like a ray of hope,
finding for what
wasn't yours,

Until one day,
without a thought,
you left behind everything
with a promise to return.

And yet why is it
I'm still waiting for you,
knowing that you were
an angel with skin,

Not meant to stay
beyond dawn?
