64. Hopes

Step into my world one more time
and feel my beating heart,
you'll know nothing
has changed.

I'm right where we first left ways,
hoping against hope for once
that you wouldn't walk
far away from me.

And yet I could only see your figure
grow smaller with every step,
knowing that perhaps
this is folly.

But my heart simply refused to listen
to any shred of practicality I try
to engrain into it's depths;
as stubborn as myself.

If only you could turn back once
and meet eyes with me fully,
I'll quieten those beats
like my hopes.
