73. Your Daughter First

I will never forget you, my first love; my first idol I can never stop admiring,

I will never find anyone alike my dream Prince who can make me laugh the way you do,

I can never replace the first true friend I found in you, comparing you with every next guy who becomes a part of my life,

I can never feel a solace like yours in another's embrace and learn about life the way you teach me things,

I could never let anyone see my tears and wipe them, much less trust anyone to do that except for you,

I could never really keep anyone's expectations above yours, knowing to count upon no one to fight my battles apart from you,

I will never really find into another pair of worried eyes so much love and pride for me,

I will never really see anyone carry me on their shoulders with a smile in spite of having so many things on them already.

And how could I?

All I wake up to each morning
is seeing you bustling
around the house
like a pillar
of strength,
always smiling.

Reading the newspaper,
sorting your work appointments ,
making my mother fall in love with you every single day,
and taking care of grandma
at the palm of your hand
to know that
it is all
there.

From seeing you work harder
than anything to give a stable future to making me capable enough to make one on my own,
from being
the emotional cushion
who cries on the simplest things
to being the toughest cookie
to crack professionally.

I don't have to find
tens of people to each play
a separate role in my life
because I find them all
in you.

Nobody has taught me
to love and appreciate life
the way you do.
And that is why
nobody can be you.
Not before,
not today,
and certainly not
in the future ahead.

To my hero, idol and love.
To my best friend and sibling.
To my emotional backbone
and benefactor.
To my teddy bear
and punching bag.
To my world in a nutshell.

To more hugs
and emotional wishwash,
to more princess diaries and humbling realities,
and to ever-growing love
and respect to standing grounds.

To always being
your daughter first, Daddy.

Always yours,
Your life's silver lining.

A/N: Cheers to all the fathers out there who deserve all the love and appreciation that's so often under neglect! They can be a little stern and serious at times, but they give in their best too just to give us a better life.

And to all the Dad's out there making an effort to make their children's world a better place to live, Happy Father's Day! ❤
