Chapter 8: Family Troubles

The next morning is the last day of her sleepover with Izzy

Izzy: You sad?

Karli: What you mean?

Izzy: It's the last day of our sleepover

Karli: Oh....yeah it is sad

Izzy: It's ok though because we can always have another

Karli chuckles to self

Karli: Um....have you talked to Kaitlyn yet?

Izzy: What you mean?

Karli: Uh....we're friends

Izzy: Cool....that's it?

Karli: What you mean

Izzy started to have a slight smile

Karli: OK! We're dating!

Izzy: AWESOME! But no we haven't talked

Karli: Ok call her then

Izzy walks out the room and calls her

Karli gets a phone call from her brother, Jonah

Karli: What's up stalker?

Jonah: Where you've been, stalker?

Karli: I had a sleepover with Izzy, why?

Jonah: For a week?

Karli: Yeah. Why you call me dimwit?

Jonah: Dad invited us to a dinner in 30 minutes

Karli hasn't seen her dad in 2 years

Jonah: He wanted me to tell you

Karli: Is he there?

Jonah: Yeah. Wanna talk to him?

Karli hesitates

Karli: No....um. I'll be there in 10

Jonah: Ok

Karli hangs up

Izzy: What happened?

Karli: My dad invited me to a dinner

Izzy: GO!

Karli: I am....it's in 30 minutes

Izzy: Ok. Well I'll be here when you get back

Karli gets dressed and heads to her house

While riding, Ben calls her

Karli: Hey, how you been?

Ben: Better. Um...you talked to Josh?

Karli: Uh....no

Ben: Liar....

Karli: Ok I have

Ben: He hasn't texted me back since I was in the hospital

Karli: You told him you had feelings for him

Ben: WHAT ELSE WAS I SUPPOSE TO DO?

Karli: Wait...

Ben: I....uh....I'll just text him again

Ben hangs up

Karli makes it back to her house

Karli can see her dad in the window

Her mom: Hey Karli

Karli turns around

Karli: Hey mom
