Your day had not been going so well. You had uneasily woken up, and had continued to the kitchen only to find that there were no more poptarts left.

So, you had to enjoy a bowl of despised cereal instead.

Boring.

After eating your carb-a-licious breakfast, you decided that your day wasn't going to get any better without your favorite treat.

The power had been going out and back on, which terrified you, and also didn't do wonders for your nyctophobia.

For those of you slackers who don't know the definition of nyctophobia, it means that you have a big fear of the dark.

You got out of the shower a couple minutes later and neatly slipped on a sweatshirt and some warm jeans, before grabbing your wallet and departing your house.

Even though it was only ten in the morning, it was raining and dark which made you uncomfortable, and you shifted in your seat as you drove.

Your only comfort was your headlights and the classical music blaring softly from the radio.

...

Your hair was wet and dripping as you entered the grocery store, comforted as you were met with chatter and bright lights.

Whipping your hair up into a messy bun, you grabbed a basket from the stack and continued down the isles, humming softly to yourself as you navigated the store.

"He's here."

"Who?"

"The man who destroyed New York."

Your head turned as you eavesdropped on the conversation of two teens close to you, curiously stopping your humming and picking your eyes up from the ground as a shiver went down your spine.

Thor's brother - a particularly scary man in your opinion. He had dropped a building on you, and you had been buried under the rubble for hours. Anyway, what the heck was he doing back in New York?

Shaking your head with disbelief, you tuned out the words of the other two you refused to trust, and continued down looking for the item you had come for in the first place.

Perhaps, if Loki really was here, you didn't want to stay much longer than you had to.

...

You had successfully reached the pastry isle, and you licked your lips carefully as you examined the various flavors.

Your back had been turned, and your head snapped up, suddenly alert as you heard quiet footsteps behind you.

Turning your head to face whoever was approaching, you never got to see who it was, because at that moment...

the power went out.

...

Darkness.

Black.

Empty.

Frightened tears threatened the corner of your eyes and you started shaking and whimpering uncontrollably, the only memory returning to you was the building and its heavy weight.

The destruction.

The cause of the destruction.

Your hands scrambled for the nearest thing they could touch - the body of a person.

Without thinking, you wrapped your arms around them and held onto them, afraid. You were silently crying and wetting their shirt as well.

"Sssh... I got you." a smooth voice whispered in your ear, and chilly arms rubbed your back comfortingly.

His British accent made you feel better and you nodded in response, picking your head up as an announcement came over the PA.

"All shoppers, we apologize for the inconvenience! The generator will be up shortly and you maybe proceed shopping. Thank you."

Not a moment too late, the lights once again flooded the building and the former chatter that had halted, began again.

Blushing with embarrassment as you recognized your position with this stranger, you unwrapped yourself reluctantly from his strong arms and gazed up at your savior.

He was absolutely gorgeous.

Raven locks extended to his shoulders, high cheekbones perfectly carved, and stunning blue eyes. To complete it off, a smirk that would've made a princess swoon.

"Hi. Sorry about that.. I'm just afraid of the dark you know?" you explained in a small voice, and your blush turned deeper as you realized that you had never actually had the guts to come out and comfortably say that to someone.

He hummed with a small smile, and his words were reassuring. "It's quite alright. Loki." he introduced himself, and you suddenly froze.

Loki? The Loki?

The one who had dropped a building on you?

But, also the one that had helped you get through now?

You momentarily accepted his hand with a truthful smile.

Who cared about the past? Sure it would make you up...

But the present is always new. A place for change.
