"boys, dinner's done," his dad hollered. jeremy stepped down the stairs carefully, trying not to slip. the stairs were incredibly steep and slippery. he entered the kitchen, the scent of lasagna hitting him.
he heard a loud thump followed by a cry of pain. he couldn't help but laugh as his brother limped into the kitchen.
"i hate those stairs. so much," he said taking a bowl of lasagna and joining jeremy at the table.
"yeah, you and me both. i'll work on fixing them tomorrow," his dad said.
they continued to joke and laugh throughout dinner.
this was the first dinner in a long time where it felt good.
it felt happy.
which, in turn, made jeremy happy.
