"Here's the usual for both of you." Pop Tate said as he set down my vanilla milkshake, Archie's strawberry, and both of our burgers and fries.

"Thank you, Pop Tate." We both said in sync with smiles on our faces.

I immediately ate a fry and took a drink of my milkshake, Archie looked sick to his stomach. "Eat, Archie, you didn't eat at lunch." I pushed.

"You're not my mom." He spat back. I sat there, uncomfortable. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean that, i'm just, stressed." He said as he covered his eyes with his hand.

"It's okay, just tell me what's wrong."

"What i'm about to tell you you can't anyone. Anyone, okay?" He asked me, staring into my eyes.

"I won't tell anyone." I said as I stuck my pinky out. "I promise."

"Seriously?" He asked as he looked down at my pinky then back up to me. I nodded and let out a small laugh, causing him to shake his head and smile. He intertwined his pinky with mine and we locked them, something childish but still meaningful to me.

"You especially can't because your dad is the mayor."

"I won't say a thing."

"I don't know if you can handle it, this is going to be a lot."

"I can handle it," I told him. "Trust me."

"This isn't just gossip though, it's like life changing. You will never think of this town, or anyone the same, including me."

I stopped right before putting a fry in my mouth and let out a nervous chuckle. "Archie you're scaring me."

"That's the least scary thing i'm going to tell you tonight."

"Tell me." I told him.

"I want to let you eat first. Don't want to make you lose your appetite."

"That's considerate." I said, already feeling like I didn't want to eat anymore. "Can you at least tell me what you're going to talk about?"

"Riverdale, and all of its history, and all the deep, dirty secrets we hold." He said, his tone scary and eyes dark. "You're apart of the group, you deserve to know what we all know."

I pushed my basket away from me and took one more sip of my milkshake. "I'm finished."

"Let's start with Miss Grundy." He said. I didn't recognize the name. "Wait no, we have to start from the very beginning, Jason Blossom."

"Jason Blossom, was he related to Cheryl?" I asked.

"Her twin brother."

"What happened to him?" I asked.

"You sure you want to do this? Are you really sure you want to know?" He asked one last time.

I looked him in the eyes. "Positive."

I felt like my chest had no air in it, and I was gasping for air to stay alive like a fish out of water.

"Cate, Cate please." He said, reaching for my hand.

It was a lot to take in, more than I expected, and I wasn't handling it well.

I lost it when he just told me the last facts he had, about a serial killer by the name of the black hood.

(side note: there will be no spoilers in this book as respect to those who haven't seen all the episodes yet, so please know who i say is is the black hood or other people who's identities have been hidden or criminals will not be the same/should not be the same as in the show.)

"And you don't know who this black hood guy is?" I asked.

"Nope, no one does."

"He almost killed your dad?" I asked.

"Yeah and several other people."

"Archie." I said, still not believing it.

"It's all true." He said, he seemed calm. "I'm sorry, I just thought you deserved to know."

"Don't be sorry, thank you for telling me." I told him. "Wait so Jug and his dad are both serpents?" I asked. He nodded. "This town is -"

"Not anything you thought it was?" He asked, cutting me off. I shook my head no and he continued. "A mess. A murder town? Anything bad, you name it. Welcome to Riverdale."

I shook my head, still in shock.

"Ready to go?" Archie asked.

"Yeah." I said as I got out of the booth and we both walked outside, saying goodbye to Pop Tate as we left. "Thank you for meeting me." I thanked him.

"No, thank you for meeting me. See you soon?" He asked.

"Yeah." I smiled.

"I'm going to head back inside while I wait for my dad to pick me up. He doesn't get off work for another hour."

"Okay. i'll see you later." I waved as he walked back towards the entrance. I started walking down the road in the direction of my house. "Wait, Cate, are you walking?" Archie shouted.

I stopped and turned. "Yeah, why?"

"At night? Alone? After what I just told you?" He said as he walked towards me.

"I'll be okay, Archie." I said, smiling at him, the bright red lights hurting my tired eyes. I'll text you when I get home so you know I made it."
