"Betty?" I asked as I walked out of the court house. Betty and Jughead both looked up at me as I quickly rushed down the steps to meet them.

"You did great." Betty said as she pulled me into a hug.

"That was awful." I said into her shoulder.

"No really you did good, you didn't say anything that could really get him in trouble." Jughead added.

"Really? Why the really, what did I say?" I asked as I looked from Betty to Jughead.

"No nothing!" Jughead said as he put his hand on my shoulder. "Just you never know what lawyers and the jury have in their heads."

"Oh." I nodded.

"You going back to school?" Betty asked me as we continued walking down the steps.

"Nope, parents said I get to stay home. What about you guys?"

"Sadly we have to." Betty frowned.

I walked up and saw my parents waiting for me by our car. "Looks like my ride is here." I said as I pointed to them.

"Want us to grab your missing home work? I can bring it to you later." Betty offered.

"Uh, yeah sure that would be great." I nodded. "Bye Betty, bye Jug." I waved as I got into the car, barely hearing them say goodbye back.

"Hungry?" My dad asked as we made eye contact in the rear view mirror.

"Not really."

"You sure? We could grab you something."

"I'm okay. You guys get something, if I get hungry later i'll just have the cook make something."

"No it's okay we're not hungry either." I watched my parents exchange a look and my mom nodded, liking my dad's response.

"You did good today, Catherine." My mom spoke up. "We are so proud of the responsible girl you have become."

My throat hurt suddenly as it felt like it was swelling up. "Thanks." Was all I managers to choke out.

"We know this has been hard on you, especially because your friendship with Archie Andrews."

"You can just call him Archie." I said as I looked down at my finger nails. There was an awkward silence, my parents searching for something to say.

Nobody said anything as we pulled into our house. I had watched Archie's house to by a few seconds earlier, it looked dark and empty.

"Do you want Lynne to make you something right now, honey?" My mom asked as we walked through the front door.

"No I think i'm going to go take a nap." I said as I removed my shoes and coat.

"Okay sure." My mom said as she nodded and gave me a fake smile.

"Do you guys think he's guilty?" I asked as I started to walk upstairs.

My dad lowered his glasses and looked at me, worried. "Catherine, what?"

"Archie. Do you think he's a murderer? The black hood?"

They exchanged a glance then looked back at me. "We aren't sure, honey." My mom said as she clenched the bottom of her coat.

"But you have an opinion. You either think he is or he isn't, what one do you feel?"

"We don't-"

"But what is your gut feeling, mom?"

"What is yours?" She asked.

"I don't think he did it. No I know he didn't do it."

My dad took his glasses off and rubbed the back of his head. "We don't think he did it either, but we can't let anyone know that, because being the mayor means I need to put the safety of the public first."

"After family." My mom added.

"After family, of course." He nodded.

"They just made a mistake, but they will come to that conclusion on their own, hopefully." My mom said, finally taking off her coat.

"What if they don't though?"

"We can't think like that, Cate. We just can't."
