"Do you need to be walked in, miss?" Phillip asked me as he opened up the door for me.

"I am okay, thanks." I smiled.

"Miss are you sure?" He asked again.

"Fine, Phillip. Thanks." I said as I stepped out of the way of the car door so he could shut it. "Archie just texted me he went home too, if I need anything he's just down the road."

"Very well, I will head back to the town hall for the rest of your family then." He nodded as he walked back towards the front of the car.

I waved goodbye to Phillip as he drove out of the driveway, then I turned back towards the house. I saw the front door was cracked open, causing me to get nervous and run into the house. No lights were on but the one in the foyer.

"Hello?" I called out.

There was a loud crash in the kitchen. I jumped behind the staircase so I would be out of view of whoever was in the house if they looked towards the foyer.

I looked across from me into my dad's office. I saw the cook ducking under my dad's desk, a tear streaming down her face. She put her pointer finger up to her mouth, telling me to be quiet.

I nodded that I understood and undid my heels and pulled my feet out of them as slowly as possible before walking towards the door and slamming it shut.

I rushed up the stairs as quietly as possible and rushed to my room for the home phone that was connected in my room.

As soon as I got into my room I locked the door and grabbed the phone, dialing 911 as quickly as possible.

"911, what is your emergency?"

"Hello?" I whispered into the 1960's style baby blue phone. "I would like to report a break in, they're in my house."

"May I asked who is calling?"

"Catherine Montgomery."

"Please stay calm and with me, Catherine. Can you tell me your address so we can send help immediately."

"Yes." I said trying to think of the address. "Sorry I just moved in, i'm trying to remember." I said as I rushed to think of what the address was.

"Montgomery, as in Mayor Montgomery?"

"Yes?" I said, not sure what that had to do with anything.

"Are you at your home?" She asked me.

"Yes? I said that." I said, annoyed and worried.

"We will send policemen to the Mayor's house right now, please stay with me." She told me.

"Okay thank you." I said as I heard the doors upstairs start rattling. I slumped down behind my bed, starting to cry. "Please hurry." I whispered through tears, my voice cracking. "He's up here."

"Can you get somewhere to hide? Are you locked in a room?"

"I am locked in my bedroom." I slipped under my bed. "I'm hiding under my bed."

The footsteps came closer to my bedroom door. I watched and listened as the door handle furiously rattled. I clapped my hand over my mouth, silencing myself as tears furiously fell down my face.

After the rattling stopped for a minute I picked the phone back up off the ground next to me.

"Miss Montgomery are you still with me? Police are almost there."

"I'm still here." I whispered back. "I think they're gone."

As soon as I whispered that back the door and handle started rattling and shaking more intensely. "Open up!" The male voice on the other side of the door screamed at me. "I hear you in there! Open up now, I have a gun!"

I dropped the phone and was as still as a statue for a second before deciding that where I was hiding wasn't safe enough. I got up as quietly as possible, the man still yelling for me to open up as he shook the door.

I left the phone laying on the ground since the cord wouldn't reach where I was going.

I grabbed the old fashioned candlestick off the dresser and got in the closet. quietly shutting the door.

"I have a gun, don't mess with me. I'll shoot through this door."

Thoughts started racing through my head, I was wondering if I would make it out or not.

I stayed silent in the back of my closet, rocking myself just so I wouldn't go insane, even though I think I already was.

After what seemed like forever I finally heard the noise of sirens rushing towards me. Getting louder and louder.

"SHIT!" The person outside the door yelled as he pounded on my door one last time. "I'm not done with you yet." He yelled as I heard a gunshot go off. I jumped and tried to sob into my knee so it would be quieter.

I heard his footsteps go loudly down the stairs as the sirens blasted through the house.

I opened the closet door slowly and walked towards the phone that was still on the ground.

I heard the back door open and footsteps outside. I ignored the phone and rushed towards my balcony, avoiding actually going onto it though, in fear of being seen.

The porch light allowed me to vaguely see the man who was just tormenting me, but I only got to see his body shape as he ran away, the sound of him running through the woods echoing until he was too far away.

I slowly stepped onto the balcony and looked out into the garden, trying to catch my breath and calm myself.

As I looked out towards the garden shed I saw a figure in a white suit. The gardener.

"You, sir!" I whisper yelled to him. He looked at me, the small part of his face that had light on it showed pure fear. "Did you see his face?"

"I couldn't, miss. I'm sorry." He shook his head no, he sounded like he was crying.

"Why couldn't you?" I asked. "Because it's too dark out?"

"No, miss, I saw him in the light." He answered.

"If you saw him in the light then tell me what he looked like so we can catch him!" I said, feeling frustrated.

"I'm so sorry miss, but I couldn't see his face." Before I could ask him why not again he opened his mouth, shivering. "He was wearing a black hood with the eyes cut out, I couldn't see what he actually looked like."
