The door swung open, a shirtless Reggie standing behind it. "You again?" He asked. "Were you Jessica or Cate?" He asked me.
"Her names Jenna." I rolled my eyes. "But I'm Cate."
"That's right, sorry, only remember names I want to." He winked.
"Save, whatever it is that you're doing." I said, not sure if his lame attempt at flirting even counted as flirting. "I'm looking for my sister."
He turned and looked into his house. "Do we have a Jessica here?" He asked.
I heard a few people mumble no. "For the second time, it's Jenna!"
"My bad, my bad." He said as he put his arms up in surrender. "Do we have a Jenna?" He asked.
Everyone mumbled no and that they didn't think so again. "Sorry, your sister isn't here, but you're welcome to stay if you want to." He said as he opened the door, giving me room to walk in.
"I'll pass, thanks for the offer though." I said as I turned and walked onto the road.
"No luck?" Betty asked me as I got to Kevin's car.
"She wasn't there." I said as I got back in. "Just take me home I guess, I'll deal with my parents there."
"Are you sure?" Kevin asked as he started to drive away. "There is nowhere else we can look?"
"There's no other place I can think of." I shrugged. "And she still hasn't texted me back."
"Sisters, right?" Betty asked.
I gave her a weird look. "Uh, yeah, I guess."
She turned from the front seat and smiled at me. "I have sister problems too."
"Really?" I asked her. "Your sister's name is Polly, right?"
"Yeah, and I love her but she is a handful."
I saw Kevin nod in the rear view mirror, agreeing with what Betty said. "She had twins with her cousin!"
Betty hit Kevin, causing him to swerve. "You promised you would stop throwing that out in conversations like it was small talk, Kev!"
He kept the arm she just hit on the steering wheel and grabbed his bicep with the other hand. "Ouch, Betty, I'm driving. Plus it's just Cate, are you going to tell anyone, Cate?" He asked me.
"I would never." I said as I gave Betty a sympathetic smile, I could tell she was embarrassed. "But did she really?" I asked. Betty shot me a dirty look. "Sorry, had to ask."
Betty groaned as she whipped her head back into the headrest. "It's a long story, but she didn't know that he was our, you know, cousin."
"Crazy, right?" Kevin chimed in.
"Leave Polly alone." Archie spoke up. "This is why she left Riverdale."
"No." Betty shook her head. "She left Riverdale because of my mom."
"Better watch what you say, your mom hears everything." Kevin laughed.
I turned to Archie who was also sitting in the back seat. "Is Kevin always like this?"
"Making jokes about serious topics and when they're not necessary?" He asked me. I nodded. "Yeah, always."
"Gotcha." I whispered back.
"Are you two whispering or kissing I can't tell." Kevin blurted, causing Archie and I to quickly move away from each other. "No I'm just kidding I know you too weren't kissing, Cate isn't Veronica."
"Too soon." Betty shook her head.
"Betty it was like a year ago." Archie shook his head.
"Okay seriously Kevin could you drive a little faster I don't know how much longer I can be in the car with you two." Betty said as she pushed her head against the window.
"My dad's a cop Betty, I don't break the rules."
"Shut up, Kevin!" She rolled her eyes. The tone of her voice was joking but she didn't seem like she was.
Awkward silence filled the car and I shifted in the seat uncomfortably. "Um Betty, why didn't Jughead go to the party last night?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"Jughead hates parties!" Kevin answered for her.
"Yeah, he hates them. And Reggie." Betty added. "You should have seen when we tried to throw him a birthday party, didn't go very well."
"You can say that again." Archie said as he took off his varsity jacket.
"Are we dropping Cate off first so she can hunt down her sister or what?" Kevin asked as he pulled onto our road.
"Yeah." Betty answered.
"There's a new security guard that stands at the gates so you can let me out before my driveway." I told him as I unbuckled.
"Security guard?" Kevin asked.
"Yeah." I rolled my eyes. "They ask my full name and birthday every time."
"Not a very good security guard." Archie said as he looked at me. "When Betty and I went we just said we were your friends and he let us right in."
"That makes me feel safe." I laughed, although I felt uneasy.
Kevin abruptly stopped before pulling into my driveway. "Kevin I told you that you could just drop me off in the road." I said as he pulled up to the security guard.
"Reason for being here?" He asked.
I put my window down. "They're dropping me off. Catherine Elizabeth Montgomery, February 10th." I said, trying to make this go by faster.
"We have badges that you guys are now required to wear." The man stood there, looking at me.
I gave him a weird look. "Since when?"
"Last night."
"I haven't been home since yesterday after school."
"I'll let you go this one time, but after you'll have to have a badge." He said as he pressed the button, the gates staring to open.
"What are you the president?" Kevin asked as he drove up my driveway.
"More like a prisoner." I rolled my eyes. "Thanks for the ride, Kev. See you guys later."
