We danced in time to Brutal Love,
you kept me warm with your poetic words and gentle caresses.
We didn't care what people thought that day,
we charted stars and once the intoxication escalated,
we counted each galaxy.
We floated on the grey summer waves,
letting the salt water wash over us like a gentle rain that stung.
You picked up out of the breakwater and wouldn't let go.
We were too young, too in love/
Smothered by it.
But we held on for dear life, for each other.
Because in those intoxicating hours,
nothing seemed more important.
