He stood there staring at her now lifeless body as a tear rolled down his cheek. "No!" He sobbed out as he picked up her head and looked down at her face. "Please, come back." He pleaded and he felt as if he was the one who died.
Everyone and everything around him had seemed to disappear as he cries over the woman that he loved. The woman that he couldn't save. It was all his fault.
He lifted her head up to his face and whispered into her ear, "I'm so sorry, you deserved better." More tears started flowing down his face.
He put her back down and looked up to see Damon and Bonnie staring at him. He felt something snap inside of him and he felt rage. He didn't care that his clothes were now covered in blood from Angelyn's body or the fact that he killed a whole coven merely minutes before things went bad. He walks up to Damon and snapped his neck using his magic.
Bonnie looked horrified, she had never seen him this angry. She did the only thing she could think to do and grabbed onto Damon and they left. She teleported them outside the building and then put up a spell to keep Kai in there. She knew that it was mean to leave him in the with the body of the girl that he loved but at that moment she didn't care, she had to make sure her friends were safe.
Kai let out a cry that was a mixture of anger and hurt as he tried to open the doors to chase after Bonnie. After a few failed attempts he gave up and turned back around and saw her laying there. He leaned his back up against the wall and slid down, pulling his legs up to his chest as he let the tears flow.
He must have stayed like that for hours, perhaps only minutes, before he stood back up and reached into the pocket of his jeans. He dialed the only number that he could think of and let out a shaky breath as he put the phone to his ear.
"Hello?" He heard Klaus answer and he started to cry even harder. Hearing his voice only made him think of Angelyn's voice.
"I'm sorry," Kai sobbed. He put his hand up to his mouth and bit it to hold back another sob. "I couldn't save her." It was getting hard for him to breath. He sucked in a gasp of air, "I'm sorry."
At this, he had Klaus' attention. He could tell that Kai was crying and after what he said he felt his heart drop. "What?" Was all that he could manage to say.
"Angelyn, she's gone." Klaus heard Kai choke out and he knew that Kai was not responsible for her death. He felt pure anger though, he had just gotten her back and now she was gone. She was gone for good this time.
"I'm on my way." He replied as he hung up and stormed out of the French Quarter. He gathered up his siblings and Vincent and they traveled to Mystic Falls.
Kai still clutched his phone in his hand as he once again stared down at her body. She looked so peaceful, aside from the hole in her chest where Damon had stabbed her. He knelt down beside her and picked up her hand bringing it to his lips, he placed a kiss on it, "I'm sorry." He whispered one last time and stood up and walked away.
It was maybe an hour before he heard the sounds of the Mikealson siblings arrive. For the first time that day, he felt sort of happy. He didn't have to be alone to grieve her. She was loved by many, and unlike him, she has people that would miss her. The only person that Kai could think of that would miss him was Angelyn and she was now gone.
Kai walked to the door just as Klaus was about to knock, the siblings could tell that he was not doing good. This was the first person that he let in, and now she was gone. In the blink of an eye, his whole world changed.
They all greeted him and he noticed another man standing beside Freya as he whispered to her and she got a look on her face that showed shock. Freya walked up to Kai and pulled out a folded piece of paper, "She told me to give this to you." She herself was holding back tears as she handed the letter to Kai and he took it.
