Chapter 26

*Ali's P.O.V*

For the first time in who knows how long, I was able to get a decent amount of sleep.

I even felt like I even slept in but hey, that's fine with me.

I hardly ever get to sleep in anymore.

Actually, I hardly get enough sleep. Most of the time, Carl and I will go to bed late and I am only getting a few hours of sleep. We would always have to wake up early in the morning to start our day, I'm sure that's a rule that Rick had made before I came here I'm not sure.

But I got a good amount of sleep this time and I'm happy about that.

Now the group is onto a full out war with Negan and the saviors.

I don't know when we are suppose to start but I'm hoping that we will be able to lay low right now because I really don't wanna do anything.

It's me being honest.

"So you finally woke up." I heard a voice and saw that it was Carl.

"Yeah, woke up a few minutes ago." I said.

"What time is it?" I then asked.

"It's 11." He said.

Oh. So I really slept in.

"I can see by the look on your face and you probably think that you're gonna be in trouble but you're not. You're gonna be fine. Plus, we don't have any plans today."

"So we're doing nothing?" I asked.

"Basically." Carl said and walked over to me and then sat down.

"Thank goodness because I didn't want to do anything. I just wanted to relax." I said.

"Plus we need the free time anyway. Dad is making sure that Michonne is okay after what happened. So he just doesn't want to deal with anything today."

Thank god for Rick.

"So what is everyone doing?"

"They're kind of getting ready for the war. Some people wanna do something and some people don't so who knows really." Carl said and grabbed a comic book that was near him.

"What were you gonna do?" I asked.

"Nothing really." Carl opened the comic book.

I sighed and then laid my head on his shoulder.

I was super tired because this is what we do like everyday and we never catch a break. So I'm truly thankful that we are getting this break and we can have time to ourselves.

"But I was wondering if you wanted to go on a run with my dad and I?" Carl then looked at me.

So at first he had no plans and now he does?

"When?" I asked.

"Tomorrow." Carl said.

So it's as if I'm back to the whole working thing tomorrow.

Ughhhhh..., I don't even know.

"It's your choice babe. You don't have to come." Carl said wrapping an arm around my shoulder.

"I'd like to come. Just tell me when we leave."

"Will do." Carl smiled and then planted a soft kiss on my lips, making me kiss him back.

We were kissing for a while until we pulled away.

"That's how we relax." He smiled and chuckled and that just made me laugh.

He wasn't lying though.

"Let's see what's going on." Carl said and then stood up.

He put out his hand for me to take and I took it. We walked hand in hand and we ran into Rick.

"How's Michonne?" Carl asked.

"She's still pretty banged up from the attack. What's gonna happen though is that she can't do much physical activity meaning that she won't be apart of the war in the beginning but she will after she heals." Rick said.

I can tell that he was concerned for her and I feel it too.

"I'm sorry that she's in pain." I said.

"It's alright, Ali." Rick gave a small smile.

"What about you two?" He asked us.

"We're just taking a walk." Carl said and his dad nodded his head.

"Be careful you two because I need you two for tomorrow. Ali is coming, right?" Rick asked.

"Yeah, I'm coming." I said.

"Okay, so don't do anything stupid." Rick teased us.

"We're just gonna see what everyone else is doing." Carl said and then we started to walk out of the house.

Right when we had stepped outside, we saw people doing whatever.

We were seeing Scott and Tobin doing construction but I'm sure they'll be preparing for the war.

We saw Aaron with Eric.

Tara was with Jesus and they seemed to be going over strategy. I don't know.

I'm sure she's been taking care of Rosita too because she did get injured.

Daryl is doing whatever the hell he wants.

"Seems pretty basic." I said and Carl nodded.

"There isn't much that we can do today but I'm sure tomorrow is gonna be different. With us going on a run, other people will fall through with something else." Carl shrugged.

"What can they be doing?" I asked.

"Finding saviors to kill, I don't know." Carl said seriously.

"It'll be a start."

"We'll have to do that too."

"I know." I said.

"Are you scared for the war?" I then asked after we were silent for a while.

"No. There's no reason for me to. I'm sure something will happen but gotta keep positive." Carl said looking at me.

"And you'll be right by my side?"

"Till the end." Carl smiled.

"We're gonna finish this together." I said as we started walking, just looking at everyone doing their own thing.

"You got that right." Carl said.

I'm never gonna let go of Carl. I'm gonna have him by my side through the whole war and then once it's over, we'll be at peace.

Carl and I are forever.

Hey guys so here is chapter 26.

So this is just the aftermath of the battle from the last chapter. It's now time to head to the war and it's gonna start in the next chapter.

There's something that I wanna say.

This book won't be updated for the next two weeks because I'm gonna be going on vacation. I will be having my laptop but it'll be for wrestling and I usually don't use my laptop for writing anymore, I use my phone.

So two weeks ain't bad. The next chapter will be up on July 27.

That isn't too far away.
