"Why are we doing this?" Cheryl grumbled as she used a sponge to clean the sink of the White Wyrm. She held the sponge with two gloved fingers and she was barely scrubbing anything.

"So that Jughead will ask Veronica out," Toni repeated for the millionth time. "Stop whining!"

"Ugh, why are they such dimwits?" Cheryl moaned. "Just date already, and save the rest of us some trouble."

A knock came from the door.
"Cheryl, Toni, are you in there?" Sweet Pea's voice boomed from the outside of the girls' toilet.

"What?" Toni opened the door immediately, which crashed into Sweet Pea, who was leaning on the door.

Toni laughed hysterically as Sweet Pea yanked her out of the toilet angrily. "Antoinette Topaz! For the last time, don't push doors at such force before checking whether there's anyone on the other side!"

Cheryl chuckled at this regular occurrence.

"Meeting on the Ghoulies now," he grumpily lead the way to the Meeting Room.

"We're pretty sure that their force is Penelope Blossom and that makes it easier for us," Fangs reported from his findings.

Cheryl sniffed haughtily at the mention of her mother.

"All we got to do is to send all the Ghoulies in jail for drug selling," Sweet Pea said optimistically.

"We still have four Ghoulies on the run though," Veronica reminded them. "We need to track them down."

Sweet Pea gave her a side eye of annoyance but left her alone. He had started to accept Veronica as part of their friendship group, but still disliked her and treated her on a similar level as he treated Cheryl, who he also disliked. He still held a grudge from their first day of school at Riverdale High, when she was hostile towards the Serpents.

"Set them up like they set Jughead up," Toni suggested.

"That might work," Fangs said as the others nodded in approval.

"*Dirty tissues, trust issues. Glasses on the sink, they didn't fix you. Lonely pillows in a stranger's bed, little voices in my head. Secret keeping, stop the bleeding. Lost a little weight because I wasn't eating. All the souls I couldn't listen to, to tell the truth.*"

Veronica's soft voice floated from her side of the room to Jughead's keenly listening ears in the dark of the night. Jughead had not heard her sing since Carrie the Musical, and he liked this soft melody coming from her mouth.

"*Loving you was young, and wild, and free. Loving you was cool, and hot, and sweet. Loving you had sunshine, safe and sound, a steady place to let down my defenses. But loving you*— AAH! Jughead!" Veronica stopped singing with a shriek of surprise.

"I did not know you were here," she clutched her heart with her hand, still recovering from the surprise that had sent her tumbling off her bed.

Originally, before Veronica entered their room, Jughead was sleeping with the covers all the way up to his head, so that she had no idea she was in the room. However, when Jughead decided to suddenly annouce his presence by flipping the covers away from his face, he had completely frightened the singer.

"Chill," he chuckled. "It's just me."

"Why were you hiding?" Veronica said embarrasedly, scooting up onto her bed.

"I wasn't hiding, I was sleeping."

"Well, hope you enjoyed the show," she disguised her unease with confidence.

"What show? You mean the racket that woke me up from my peaceful slumber?" he masked his enjoyment with scorn.

With that, both of them snuggled under the protection of their blankets to sleep, just like how they hid under their facades from each other.
