Hurt

Hurt-

She's been hurt so many times,

That she knows better to hide it with a smile,

But he's been hurt for only such little time,

He doesn't know any better,

He doesn't smile,

He's the quiet boy,

He's alone,

And depressed,

She gets hurt mentally and emotionally,

He gets hurt physically by his father,

Who treats him like a rag doll,

She wants to help the quiet boy,

But he doesn't listen,

He never listens,

He just stares off into space,

Maybe that's why his grades are dropping down,

Maybe that's why he never knows what's going on,

She goes home,

And gets told that she needs to be perfect,

That her grades need to be higher,

That she needs to work harder,

He goes home and gets beaten,

He goes to his room,

And cries silently for hours,

Wishing his mother were alive,

Wishing his father were the same,

She wishes her parents were different,

She wishes her parents appreciated her more,

That they weren't disappointed in her,

But,

Everyone gets hurt,

Others have been hurt so many times,

They know how to hide it,

But some have no purpose in smiling,

There's no point in being happy,

When you're so broken that you want to cry out,

But they learn to stay quiet,

They're both hurt.
