But who will it be?

Mina's POV :

We're in the car, on our way home from the arcade, and my hand still hasn't left Chaeyoung's. Something else that hadn't left was the stupid smile on my face. I couldn't help but look at her, examinating every single feature of her face while she was staring at the window. Her pupils were shaking, looking at the skyline. It was already dark, and we couldn't see the moon tonight. Due to the pollution, we can see the moon only very rarely, but whenever it's out, we all think of Chaeyoung, who had always had a particular obsession with the satellite.

But there was something off, something bothering me. Maybe it was in the way she was staring blankly outside, or the way her whole face was expressionless.

"How are you?" I asked.

"I'm fine" she answered, smiling at me before returning her gaze outside the window.

This was the only confirmation I needed. She was not fine. It's only then I remembered what the doctor had told me, two weeks ago in the hospital. Chaeyoung has depression, and of course it isn't gone, she had just gotten better at hiding it, so we wouldn't ask questions or worry anymore for her. How could I have forgotten about this?

How did you manage to make the same mistake twice? After what happened, you could have known better...

Intense guilt filled me in an instant. I wasn't going to mess up again. Not like last time. This time I'm gonna make it right, and I'm going to help her.

     We arrived at the house.

    "Hey Chaeyoung?"

     "Hm?"

"Would you like some pancakes tomorrow?" I asked, because honestly, I feel like that's the only thing I'm good at doing anyway.

"It's okay Mina, you don't have to, I'm fine now, see?" She said, but uneasiness filled the air when she noticed that I wasn't buying it.

"I know you're not fine, Chaeyoung. But that's okay, you know why? Because you're trying. You're doing your best and I couldn't be more proud of you. It's enough for me, you trying is enough. I'm trying too, I really am. So how about we cook the pancakes together tomorrow?" I told her with the softest voice I could. She didn't say anything and followed the others inside, staring at the ground, but I felt her grip on my hand tighten. I couldn't help but smile as we both entered the house.

We were welcomed by a whisper fight between Jeongyeon and Jihyo.

"Come On Jeongyeon! Grow up a bit, and make it up to her, apologise and everything will be fine!" Jihyo yelled, visibly annoyed.

"No! I said no! I'm not going to apologise and everything will be fine, because that's not how things work. And I told you already, there is no freaking way I'm sleeping in the same bed as her tonight!" Jeongyeon said. Everyone went quiet. No one, and I say no one, ever, ever speaks to Jihyo like that when the girl is obviously doing her best. Jeongyeon was now looking down, ashamed.

"I'm so sorry Jihyo, I didn't mean to let it out like that on you, really. It's just that it's quite complicated, and it sont a matter that can be solved overnight you know. Going now and talk to her would only result of raising voices, or her eventually slapping me" Jeongyeon apologised. Jihyo stayed still for a few seconds, not uttering a word.
