You stared at Haku in disbelief for a few moments.
Ai?...
Love?...
"Please explain..." you whisper, searching his eyes for a sign of what he meant. He couldn't possibly love you.
Could he?
"Ai, it's a love Dragons feel, call it mating if you wish. But it's stronger than ordinary love. It... can't ever be broken. When Dragons commit Ai they can never separate. They will always... want each other..." he bites his lip looking at the floor not daring to meet your gaze. Your heart stopped and silence rained upon you as you stared wide eyed at the boy before you.
Good grief he loved you.
The realization dawned upon you as if someone had thrown a frying pan at your face. The River Spirit raised his head to meet your eyes, he was still chewing his lip in an adorable way making your heart melt. His body, stiff and shoulders pressed against the chair behind him. Gaze unwavering as he studied every knot in the wooded floor.
Did you love him?
The question was like a bell ringing from a chapel. Loud, piercing but slightly relieving. Thinking about the words you couldn't help but laugh. Haku gave you an unsure smile as he saw your ever growing smile as your laughs became louder.
"Y/N?" He asked slightly worried and a bit annoyed. You couldn't help yourself, you were bent over in fits of laughter. It's just, after everything that's happened over the last few months your here sitting across from this boy whom you've had more than a crush on for quite some time.
Discussing your feelings.
It made you laugh, the irony of it all.
When you finally wiped away your tears from your eyes you looked at Hakus annoyed gaze.
"Haku, are you trying to say you love me?" You question and can't help but smile as you fold your arms over your chest. A red tint climbs to his cheeks as he looks away quickly.
"I never said that...I just, I don't know..." he stuttered over his words rubbing the back of his neck. You smiled kindly and leaned forward so you lips were close to his ear.
"I love you too, Haku"
You stand up and walk off into the room you have been sleeping in, leaving the poor man alone baffled, from your sudden sentence. He was still sitting there when you left, the smile on your face never faltered.
Despite the circumstances you were here flirting with Haku.
The world is a funny place.
You flopped on the bed cuddling up into the pillows. Another hour of sleep couldn't hurt., especially after that little scandal in the kitchen.
You heard the sound of a chair being pushed back and rushed footsteps coming your way. You tiredly lifted your head to see Haku already walking into the room to your bed. You furrowed your eyebrows confused to what he was doing. Without a word he climbed into the large bed beside you and pulled you closed to him. He rested his chin on your head as you put your hands to his chest as a brace. "Haku..." you stutter pushing away slightly. His grip only tightens and his breathing becomes heavier. "Please Y/N... just give me a few minutes..." he says quietly closing his eyes, keeping a firm grip around you. You realized that there was no point in pushing away, he was just too strong for you.
You decided the easiest thing to do was to cuddle up into him as his soft snores vibrate in his chest, making you relax.
"I love you..." you whisper before dozing off yourself.

The loud crash that sounded through the dark house stirred everyone awake. It was around midday and the sun was beaming down.
Haku was the first out of the bed already running to the source of the sound. "Stay here Y/N, you're injured and I don't want you getting hurt" his words are rushed as he hurriedly slams the bedroom door shut and runs to the chaos.
You stare at the door, and beneath your breath you curse. "Not a hope in hell."
