The Dimensional Quest Part I: Journey To The Infinite

Chapter 44

"Let's drive," Kitty says.

Lily draws a car, which Kitty drives into the city.

"See if any of you can track the hawk," she tells them as she maneuvers through traffic.

Amethyst nods and takes out a pair of binoculars from her saddlebag, then peers through them.

She finds the hawk and observes it swooping into a far away and very high building.

"It flew into that building over there," she reports while pointing.

Kitty swerves the car into that direction.

Along the way, the congestion on the road becomes awful, and eventually the heroes see cars backed up for miles in front of them.

"There's too much traffic!" Daffy exclaims.

Chloe notices an entrance to a subway station next to them.

"Maybe we can use the subway," she suggests.

The others nod and Kitty parks the car before they exit.

They dash into the station and Emily looks over a colored map of the subway lines.

"Where do we need to go?" she asks.

"The building was called 'The Pearl Hotel'," Amethyst says.

Emily scans over the map and finds the building, untouched by any of the subway lines.

"But how do we get there?" April questions.

"Let's create a new line!" Candy pipes up from Emily's backpack.

Lily gives the pixie a confused look.

"Lily, use your pencil to draw a new subway line on the map, and connect it to The Pearl Hotel," Candy explains.

The artist of the group hesitates before marking a new line on the map, stretching it to the location of the Pearl Hotel, then connecting it to the station they are at.

A few seconds later the new line is implemented into the map, as it takes color like the others.

The countdown clocks show a subway going to The Pearl Hotel arriving in two minutes.

The heroes hurry to the boarding area, but gates suddenly appear and block them.

A sign says they need to pay a fee of ten dollars.

"I forgot! We have to pay for subways!" Chloe says.

"I don't have any money!" Daffy exclaims.

They can hear the roar of the subway getting closer.

"Draw ten dollars!" Emily urges Lily.

She draws ten dollars bills, as precisely as possible to prevent the machine from not accepting them.

Once she finishes she pushes them into the money slot.

Thankfully, the machine takes the created money, and lets them through, allowing them to join a line of waiting people.

"I've never been on one of these subways before," Amethyst says.

Then the subway appears and screeches to a halt, before the doors slide open.

The line slowly progresses, and Daffy knows there is not much time before the doors close.

The others manage to get inside, but their duck companion only gets half of an arm in before the doors slam shut.

He whimpers at the pain of his arm being crunched.

Then the subway launches forward, and Daffy is sent rubbing against the walls of the tunnel.
