With her (H/C) locks flowing in the wind as she galloped through the forest, (Y/N) couldn't contain her excitement at staying in Mirkwood again. It had been years since she last visited the wood. It was spring, the most beautiful time of year in the forest, making the ride very pleasant. (Y/N) could have ridden forever if it was not for a certain ellon in the palace. The forest was becoming lively again with the leaves starting to turn green again, the flowers blossoming, and the animals in the forest emerging from their winter states.

(Y/N) urged her horse to go faster, eagerly wanting to reach her destination. She hoped Legolas would be waiting for her since she wrote ahead to inform him of her arrival.

The palace was beginning to look like more than a blurry little dot and (Y/N)'s heart sped up at the sight. A smile drew across her face and her cheeks heated up a bit thinking of what the palace kept inside, or rather, who.

(Y/N) bypassed the palace and headed straight to the stable where she gracefully slipped off her horse and handed the reigns to the stable attendant. Turning on her heel ready to sprint into the palace, the reigns were given back. (Y/N) looked at the reigns as if they magically made their way back into her hands and frowned.

"I wouldn't be giving them away so hastily, meleth nin," the angelic voice behind her advised.

(Y/N) smiled and rolled her eyes before turning around. Once facing Legolas, she took in his form mounted on his horse and could not help but smile again, "Going somewhere?"

"Why yes, actually. And you're coming with me," Legolas said.

(Y/N) raised her eyebrows and quickly gave into questioning his intentions just content to be with him wherever he was planning on taking her.

Once deep enough in the forest for a gallop Legolas cried, "Race you!"

(Y/N)'s eyes snapped to him but he was already off, far ahead in front getting smaller and smaller, "I don't even know where we're going, you cheat!"

Legolas just chuckled slowing down slightly for her to catch up. Soon enough she did and took the lead. "Come on, slow poke!" (Y/N) yelled as she passed Legolas. He allowed her to keep the lead even though his horse was faster. He was too busy admiring the elleth and her horse. The horse was as strong, determined, and headstrong as her rider. Silky (H/C) hair flowed in the wind behind (Y/N) with the light dancing on each strand as it passed through the leaves on the trees. Soft, pale cheeks held up the most beautiful smile Legolas had ever seen. He feels privileged and as though he has struck gold when she flashes her pearly whites.

Realizing that Legolas was lagging behind her, (Y/N) turned her head to find his horse moving at a comfortable pace. "I don't like it when you let me win!" she yelled back to him.

"Keep in mind it only happens every once in a while and it's always on purpose!" Legolas reminded her.

(Y/N) steered her horse into a small grove with a river running through it. Both elves dismounted their horses. "I'm assuming this was your planned destination," (Y/N) questioned.

"You know me too well," Legolas smiled, "When my favorite elf comes it only seems right to go to our favorite place," he wrapped his arm around her waist. They strolled down to the water and sat under a tree along the bank. They sat in a comfortable silence enjoying each other's company while listening to the sounds of nature around them. The birds could be heard chirping and the water in the river flowing. The wind could also be felt dancing on their skin, calming their heartbeats to beat in sync. It was such a peaceful place that some elves argued even humans would be able to feel the trees communicating.

(Y/N) had her eyes closed to feel the calmness of the nature around her and become one with it. When she opened them she looked to her right to see Legolas also looking off to the right drawn by something in the distance. She traced his sharp jaw with her eyes and then his blonde hair sitting perfectly on his shoulders and back. She watched his eyes open and close as he blinked, time slowing down to carefully observe his dark, long lashes. Legolas turned his head back towards her, catching (Y/N) staring and drawing her out of her trance.
