Y/n's POV

Today, the champions were competing in the final task. For this task, a ginormous maze was set up in the Quidditch pitch, and the tri-wizard cup was somewhere inside of it. The first competitor to touch it would win the task. I was sitting with Ron and Hermione in the front row of the stands where we were cheering for both Harry and Cedric. I would be happy if either of them won, because then one of the champions would be from Hogwarts.

"Earlier today, Professor Moody placed the tri-wizard cup deep within the maze. Only he knows its exact position. Now, as Mr. Diggory and Mr. Potter tied for first position, they will be the first to enter the maze, followed by Mr. Krum, and then Ms. Delacour. The first person to touch the cup will be the winner. I've instructed the staff to patrol the perimeter, and if at any point should a contestant wish to withdraw from the task, he or she needs to send up red sparks with their wands," Dumbledore disclosed.

The champions all took their spots at the front of the maze, each of them standing in front of different entrances. Then the cannon went off, and Cedric and Harry entered the maze, the entrances they went through sealing up behind them. Minutes into the tournament, red sparks were seen in the distance. A few of the staff members went to investigate and returned with Fleur, who looked shaken, but not injured. The task seemed to go on forever, lasting over an hour. But finally, Cedric and Harry both reappeared with the cup. Something felt off though, and my suspicion was confirmed when the crowd was instructed to stay in their seat. That's when I realized what had happened.

"Cedric!" I shout and push my way through the crowd. I managed to pass by everyone, and when I got onto the pitch, I collapsed on my knees next to Cedric's lifeless body. Tears spilled from my eyes and sobs fell from my lips as I clutched Cedric tightly. For a few seconds, everything was a blur. Cedric's father came down from the stands, and I was pulled away from Cedric. I turned around and cried into the shoulder of Draco, who I was able to recognize because of his scent.

"Come on. Lets get you out of here," Draco murmured and led me away from the pitch. That same night, we had the feast in honor of Cedric, and everyone was gathered in the Great Hall.

"Today we acknowledge a really terrible loss. Cedric Diggory was, as you all know, exceptionally hard working, intricately fair minded, and most importantly, a fierce friend. I think therefore you have the right to know exactly how he died. Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort," Dumbledore declared. "You see, the Ministry of Magic does not wish me to tell you this, but not to do so I think would be an insult to his memory. Now, the pain we all feel at this dreadful loss reminds me, reminds us, that while we may come from different places and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one. In light of recent events, the bonds of friendship we made this year will be more important than ever. Remember that and Cedric Diggory will not have died in vain. You remember that, and we'll celebrate a boy who was kind and honest and brave and true, right to the very end."

The next morning, the other schools were preparing to leave. I said goodbye to Fleur and Viktor, who I hadn't known for long, but we had a few conversations over the year. Once that was done, I made my way back over to my friends.

"Do you think we'll ever just have a quiet year at Hogwarts?" Ron asked.

"No," Harry, Hermione, and I replied at the same time.

"Promise you'll write this summer. All of you," Hermione lectured.

Ron laughed. "Well I won't. You know I won't!"

"I will," Harry assured her. "Every week."

"Same here," I say. Then, together, we leaned against the castle and watched as the Beauxbatons flew away in their carriage, and the Durmstrangs sunk underwater in their boat, officially ending the tri-wizard tournament and our fourth year at Hogwarts.
