After finding Merle's hand, Daryl was pissed at us all. In his rage, he drew his crossbow on T-dog who remained calm. Rick had lighting fast reflexes as he had his revolver aimed at Daryl temple just in case. Glenn & I both held our breaths as everyone seemed ready to lunge at each other's throats.

"I won't hesitate. I don't care if every walker in the city hears it." Rick warned which made Daryl stand down

"You got a dourag or something?" Daryl "politely" asked T-dog who reluctantly gave a blue bandana

"I guess the sawblade was too dull for the handcuffs. Ain't that a bitch." Daryl suggested as he wrapped up Merle's hand & placed it in Glenns bag, "he must have used a tourniquet, maybe his belt. There'd be much more blood if he didn't."

We followed him as blood spatter led to an adjacent building. He called out for Merle which made me nervous about nearby walkers. Rick sensed my fear & grabbed my hand to calm me. Luckily, we only ran into one walker which Daryl killed. As we walked further in, we saw more of Merle's handy work.

"Had enough in him to take out these two sonabitches, one-handed. Toughest asshole I ever met, my brother." Daryl commented as he readied his next shot, "Feed him a hammer, he'll crap out nails."

"Any man can pass out from blood loss, no matter how tough he is." Rick reminded him as we explored more of the office.

Dale shrugged it off as he took lead. We followed the blood splatter to the kitchen where he left a gooey mess on the stove. Dale & Rick eagerly stepped forward to investigate while Glenn, T-dog & I watched from afar.

We found a lit stove, Merle's belt & a meat pounder with burnt flesh. Merle actually played it smart & bought himself some extra time by cauterising the wound. It seemed like the hick had a few brain cells left after all.

"Told you he was tough. Nobody can kill Merle but Merle." Daryl proudly reiterated

"Doesn't change the fact that he's lost a lot of blood. It's a damn horror scene in here. He's probably still nearby, even after treating the wound. There's still a chance it can get infected." I replied which made Daryl grumble but Rick proudly grin.

"Still didn't stop him from busting out of this death trap, genius." Daryl retorted as he pointed out a busted window

"He left the building. Why the hell would he do that?" Glenn frantically asked as we looked out

"Why wouldn't he? He's out there alone as far as he knows, doing what he's got to do, surviving." Daryl explained before letting Rick peer out

"You call that surviving? Just wandering out in the streets, maybe passing out? What are his odds out there?" T-dog countered which set Daryl off again

"No worse than being handcuffed & left to rot by you sorry pricks." Daryl argued before going to Rick, "You couldn't kill him. Ain't so worried about some dumb dead bastard."

"What about 1,000 dumb dead bastards? Different story?" Rick challenged

"Why don't you take a tally?" Daryl grumbled, "Do what you want. I'm gonna go get him."

"Daryl wait. It's suicide." I said as I blocked his path

"Get out of my way." Daryl muttered

"I don't blame you for wanting to go after him. He's family, I get that. Rick went through hell for his & I'm still trying to find mine beyond hope. I know exactly how you feel." I reasoned which got his attention, " He couldn't have gotten far so we can sweep a few blocks. But, only if we stay calm."
