Giniling Guisado Recipe

Ingredients:

* 1 lb of lean ground beef/pork

* 2-3 tablespoon soy sauce 

* 4 cloves garlic, minced

* 1 medium yellow onion, chopped

* 2 medium size potatoes, diced

* 1/4 cup tomato sauce or 1 large tomato, diced

* 1 red bell pepper, chopped

* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

* 1 cup water

* 1 large carrot diced

* 1 tablespoon patis (optional)

* 1/2 cup cooked green peas (optional)

* 2 teaspoon sugar (optional)

* cooking oil

* salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1.) Saute onion over medium heat in a bit of cooking oil until soft and transparent.

2.) Add the garlic and cook until fragrant and slightly golden. 

3.) Add the meat and cook, breaking it apart and stir until it turns light brown, about 5 minutes.

4.) Add black pepper, tomato, soy sauce, patis (optional), green peas (optional), potatoes and carrots. 

5.) Cook for 3-5 minutes, stir occasionally.

6.) Add water and simmer together over medium-low heat for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked through and the liquid in the dish has reduced to a sauce.

7.) Season with salt, pepper and patis (optional) to taste, add sugar if desired. 

8.) Add bell pepper and continue to cook until the bell pepper is tender.
