The moment Michael had left the room, Calum walked across the room and sat next to Luke.

"What's going on between you and Michael?"

He stopped his PS4 game and turned to his best friend. Calum's voice didn't seem offended or demanding like it was ten years ago when he confronted Luke about talking shit about Michael. Luke, of course, meant it as a compliment but since they didn't like each other at the time, Calum found it offensive.

"Nothing?" At least he hoped so, the tour had only begun, Luke had no time or energy to be fighting with Michael.

Calum said nothing for a few moments. "He keeps smiling at you. It's weird."

"Smiling?" Luke frowned. "I haven't noticed."

He tried to brush it off but why was Michael smiling at him?

"Maybe he's just happy we're on tour again?" He tried but the Maori man shook his head.

"It's something else."

The conversation was over but Luke knew the case wasn't. Calum was like a detective, nothing went past him and he wanted to know everything. If Luke would be the problem he'd just ask him but Michael Gordon Clifford was more delicate. He was stubborn, easy to piss off, and a great liar.

Over the next week, whenever Luke could, he tried to see if Calum was right.

Even he could be sneaky if he wanted to and he made sure Michael wouldn't see any change in his behavior.

It turned out Calum was right.

Whenever Luke would say something merely funny Michael would start giggling immediately. Or when he'd do nothing Michael was smiling at him almost creepily except Luke's insides started to melt and flowers started growing inside his lungs.

It made him feel somewhat special and quickly he started to stare back.

A week or so later he was pressed in the corner by Calum again. His words weren't straightforward but they made Luke think.

"Why didn't you ever told Michael you were in love with him when you two were fifteen?"

It made him almost choke on his food but and even though his heart started to beat faster as his head got filled with memories he tried to keep his poker face on.

"Because when you find out you like boys and have a puppy love crush on your best friend you don't just tell him that. Michael had like five girls waiting in line for him and I was also afraid he'd hate me."

"I told you back then he liked guys too and you didn't listen to me."

Luke remained quiet.

"I don't blame you. He was hot back then. I just wish you'd do something about it."

To Luke, he was still hot but it's been years and Luke learned to keep those thoughts away. Of course, he thought Michael was breathtaking. It was like with any old love that didn't end badly or didn't end at all. You'd still get butterflies around them and when you'd look at them you'd think about how good they look. Luke always had a problem when Michael would randomly place his head on his shoulder or whisper random things in his ear.
