"What were you thinking?" you scolded your little brothers as you plucked the bee stingers out of their skin. "Was it really worth a few drops of honey to raid an entire hive?"

"A few drops?" Elladan asked incredulously and then winced as you pulled out another stinger. "(Y/n), we got full combs of honey!"

"And now you're covered in pink spots!" you reminded him. Honestly, they looked like they were having an allergic reaction to growing a beard. "You're going to go to the Feast of Starlight in Mirkwood looking like you have the pox!"

Elrohir grumbled with discomfort. He was the more sane of the twin brothers. Elladan always pressured him into being more reckless, like he had succeeded in doing today.

You heard a faint giggling nearby and looked up to see little Arwen, the youngest of the four children of Elrond, muffling her giggles with her palm.

"This is not a laughing matter, Arwen," you said sternly, though you were on the brink of exploding in laughter yourself. She ran off laughing, her little feet taping the polished floor.

"I'm very disappointed in you two," you said to the boys as you treated the last of the stings. "Now, go get your horses saddles."

"What in Iluvatar's name happened?" your father gasped when he saw the twins' faces.

"They ever-so-wisely decided to raid a bee hive," you answered, shooting yet another displeased glance at the young ellons

Elrond sighed and shook his head. "It could've been much worse. Thank you, (y/n) for treating them. I couldn't ask for a better eldest daughter."

You beamed and Elladan stuck his tongue out at you. You galloped to ride next to your father, who lead the group of elves traveling to Mirkwood to celebrate the upcoming Feast of Starlight.

"I wonder if Mirkwood has changed since we last saw it," you thought out loud.

"Well, the kingdom itself likely hasn't changed too much," Elrond replied. "But I've heard that their young prince, Legolas, has grown to be a fine ellon. He's only a few years older than you."

"Really? I remember seeing him when we were young children, but he was never very talkative."

Elrond nodded. "He's never been the most chatty of elves from what I know. But he's the idol of his people these days, being such a strong and handsome warrior and all. You should talk to him during the feast."

You blushed. "What are you suggesting, Ada?"

Your father winked, leaving you with a slightly agape mouth. That conversation planted a seed of curiosity within you. You couldn't wait to see this famous prince for yourself.

King Thranduil greeted your company at that front gates of Mirkwood. Had he shrunk since you last saw him? No, you must've just grown.

"Greetings, my friends," he said to your family. Though he tried to speak warmly, his voice was always cold and intimidating. You were beginning to think he couldn't help it.

"Oh," he stuttered when he saw the twins. The disgust in his voice was obvious.

"They tried to get some honey from a hive this morning," Elrond explained.

"I see," the king said. "And were you successful in your mission, young ellons?"

The boys shook their heads sadly.

Thranduil chuckled. "Then I think you learned your lesson. You remind me of Legolas when he was little."

His icy blue eyes darted to you. "Ah, Lady (y/n). You have grown into a beautiful Evenstar, just like your mother. We will celebrate tomorrow night in her memory. Come, our guest suites have been prepared for you all."
