This oneshot gets pretty smutty, just to warn you... or tempt you, whatever you choose...  ;)

The day the king and prince of Mirkwood came to visit Lothlorien didn't seem as long ago as it was. You could still remember the excitement you had felt when your mother, Galadriel summoned you, saying that the Mirkwood royals had been spotted approaching your kingdom and she wanted you to come greet them. You had given yourself one last look in the mirror before dashing out of your room, straightening your circlet on your head and flashing the most elegant smile you could.

Royal business always excited you. You loved the formality, the glorious facades covering powerful people's greatest desires, the meetings that were stirring pots of conflict and passion, the love for the common folk, and most importantly, the sense of duty it brought out of you. You were good at what you did, too- being princess. Not only did you look the part, you had the mannerisms and mind of a royal. You were the pride of your parents, the palace, and Lothlorien. If anyone was meant to be born into the role of a princess, it was you.

There was something else you were excited about this particular time. The royals of Mirkwood hadn't visited Lorien since you were an elfling and their queen was still alive and beautiful. You and the prince, Legolas, had played together - and even crushed on each other - in your youth. But after the passing of the queen, Thranduil grew distant and the visits stopped. Even as their problems with orcs and spiders continued, they refused, rather rudely, any offers of help your parents made. But now, Thranduil was back with his son to settle any past quarrels and make amends between the two elven kingdoms. You were excited to see what your childhood friend had grown to become and to make a good impression as a fully grown elleth.

You walked down the stairs at the front gates of the palace alongside your parents to meet the ellons, your chin held high and your gown slipping smoothly off the steps behind you. When you saw Legolas, your heart skipped a beat. He was still as cute as you remembered him, but in a more mature way, of course. Your gaze was then swept to Thranduil. His hair was straight and long down his back, bringing out his tall stature and the width of his shoulders. His icy blue eyes met yours, and there was something about them that made your heart spark and your knees want to kneel before him, even though it was he that should be kneeling to you in your own home.

Pressured under his piercing gaze, you switched your focus back to his son, the youthful and strong Legolas. His eyes were very similar to Thranduil's, but his face was not as solid-- it was more bright and friendly. Unlike for Thranduil, it was easy for you to imagine Legolas breaking into laughter or saying something entertaining and not related to politics and war. There was something about Legolas's face --maybe the familiarity from your childhood and the calmer expression-- but it made you feel happy and at ease.

"Mae govannen," Thranduil said as he and his son lowered their heads in respect. "My lord and lady, the grandness of your domain never ceases to amaze me. And Lady (y/n)," he subtly looked you up and down, "you have grown to be beautiful beyond measure."

You blushed at his words and looked down at your feet. "Thank you, my lord."

"I am glad your travels went smoothly," your father, Celeborn, said. "Welcome back to Lothlorien."

"Come," your mother beckoned to Thranduil, "we have important matters to discuss."

As Galadriel lead the foreign king into the palace, your father said to you, "Why don't give Legolas a tour of the gardens. Maybe revisit your old favorite hide and seek spots."

With that, you and Legolas smiled at each other and walked as composed as possible until your ada could no longer see you. You walked next to him in silence as you entered the garden, waiting for him to start conversation.
