jaesung, let's be friends

Mark and Jaemin had been waiting in Taeyong's apartment for thirty minutes. Taeyong was quick to leave when Yoonoh asked him to go for coffee.

Jaemin hadn't seen anyone other than Taeil and Kun after his argument with Jisung. It was kinda awkward for him and Mark to just be sitting there talking about absolutely nothing. There was the sound of liquid trickling in the background; Jaemin was using Taeyong's coffee maker and other coffee related products.

"Fuck, okay. Jaemin it feels like when we broke up but still sat by each other in biology." Mark groaned throwing his face in his hands. Jaemin chuckled at the memory. It was EXTREMELY awkward for a month in a half.

"Sorry... I didn't mean to get so angry." Jaemin quietly spoke as he looked at his hands.

"I know you didn't. Why did you call Chenle stupid?" Jaemin fell back on the couch and groaned.

"I was joking.. For the most part. He's not stupid, just really dense."

"Literally the same thing."

"Oh. I don't know what else to use. He's smart but sometimes he acts like blondes in those American movies." This comment had Mark leaning forwards while holding his stomach from dying of laughter.

"You're not wrong though. But he's definitely not stupid." Mark managed to say after his laugher ended. They sat in silence for a moment before Jaemin went to go and pour his and Mark's coffee into the mugs Taeyong set out before he left. During that, there was a knock on the door meaning the younger two had arrived. Mark got up and answered the door with a smile.

"Why are you here?" Jisung has immediately questioned figuring that something was about to happen.

"I live like right there. And because I can be here." Mark said stepping out of their way.

"Where is Hyung?"

"On a date."

"So why are we- no. Oh no. Why is Jaemin here?" Jisung asked when Jaemin walked into the room with his and Mark's coffee.

"Jisung, you will start calling him Hyung again." Jisung groaned but nodded.

"Jisung, we're here to remind you both of why you're even friends."

"Were friends." Jisung corrected the Chinese. Jisung and Jaemin were now sitting across from each other while Chenle and Mark stood.

"Remember when Chenle first introduced y'all. Don't start saying y'all either. You two immediately clicked it was so weird." Mark started. The four sat there in silence and remembered that day.

/Six Years Ago/

"Jaemin Hyung, Mark Hyung! This is my new best friend. His name is Jisung." Eleven years old Chenle came running into the lunch room with his fingers locked with Jisung's in a tight grip.

"Nice you meet you, Jisung." Jaemin smiled to the boy. In Jaemin's opinion, he looked six.

"H- hello." Jisung properly bowed to them. Chenle hated when things were awkward so he talked about things he knew they all had in common. They all sat together after that. Oh right, and this other boy—Kim Seungmin, he also was close with them but he moved during that following summer.

It was a year later when Jisung and Jaemin's first argument came to life.

"SHINee is full of beautifuls. But for sure Taemin is the cutest." Jisung had proudly stated. Jaemin scoffed.

"Key is the cutest. Taemin is sexy, Jisung." And that was the beginning. Everyday after that there would ALWAYS be something new to argue about.

/Present Day/

"I still stand my ground with Key."

"And I still think it's Taemin."

"Don't start arguing guys." Chenle was now pleading on his knees. He so desperately wanted for his friends to be friend and talk to each other again.

"I'm sorry for saying what I said."

"Confusion." Jisung cocked his head to the side.

"When I called Chenle stupid. I didn't mean it-" Mark coughed loud and exaggeratedly. "Like I was saying, I didn't mean it. I was just joking around."

"I know. But you know how I am. I get really protective of you guys." Jisung shrugs leaning back into the couch.

"And when I said I didn't like you, it was because I thought you didn't like me."

"No matter how much we argue, I'll never hate you, Jaemin Hyung."

"Chenle, look at that. We got honorifics back." Mark said pulling the boy off of his knees.

"So this means we can all be best friends again?" Chenle asks happily. The three nod and he pulls them into a group hug. The three all left Taeyong's house after Mark put his empty and Jaemin's untouched mug of coffee in the sink.

"Every time I try and get coffee somethings in the way of me getting it." Jaemin whined as they walked to Mark's apartment room to play games.
