Connor's POV:

I scowl while Evan giggles.

Jared gives me a smug look. "I see jelly!"

I flush. What?! How?! But I wasn't even?!

"J-Jared!" Evan exclaims, "did you... Did you eat too many bath bombs... again?!"

I stare at Jared. Eating bath bombs? He actually did that?

Jared took a breath. "No. But, I did yesterday, but that doesn't really matter-"

"Yes it does," Evan states. "All those chemicals aren't good for you!"

"Well at least his mouth is clean and he has fresh breath," I joke.

Evan glares at me and I back off. "Not helping," he says.

"So, Creepy Con-" Jared starts.

"Never call me that again," I snap.

"So, Angsty Connor," Jared resumes, "how does it feel to be in a hospital?"

I don't even bother correcting him.

Not worth my time.

"Great. I finally can avoid people for a legitimate reason, but then you came along and ruined everything."

Jared dramatically gasps. "I am hurt!"

"Good," I reply, picking at my nails.

"U-um, should we sleep?" Evan suggests.

"It's 1:05am, Evan," Jared says.

"It's still so early?!" I ask.

"Early?! W-what?! It's so late!" Evan exclaims. "I really should sleep, I have school! We have school!"

Jared shrugs. "OK, OK. Fine." Then he leaves.

Evan turns to me and hesitantly smiles. "U-um... I..." He blushes which causes me to blush a bit. "I'll visit you tomorrow?" He says as if it was a question.

My eyes light up. "Of course! I mean... Uh... Sure." I try to act casual, masking my increasing heart rate.

"Connor, are you nervous?" He asks randomly.

Of course! I have to seem good in front of you! "Uh, no," I lie, "why?"

"Because the monitor shows your heart rate being really fast."

F*ck. I blush wildly. "Ah, um, it's- um, it's just that it's super hot in here," I blabber.

"It's 50 degrees in here, Connor. Are you OK?"

Messed that up too. Crap. "Um, it..." I desperately try to find an excuse. "It might just be because of my blankets. There's lots of them."

Evan raises an eyebrow. "There's only one, Connor. Are you sure you're OK?"

I feel my face burn with embarrassment. "Ah.. I..."

Stop lying, you're just making a fool of yourself.

"No," I admit, "No I'm not. I... some of my ribs are broken and I have a tube inside me. I think I'm just delirious."

Evan nods slowly. "Alright. Well, I'll visit you tomorrow! I hope you feel better!" He leaves.

I sigh, leaning back into the bed. Then The door opens, revealing a nurse.

"Well," she says, "you have three broken ribs, which means you'll be in here for about 6 weeks."
